Hi Ladies

This might be a silly question but just wondering if switching to follow on milk at 6 months is ''the done thing''???:shrug

What are the differences in the milk from the normal formula??

Also is there a preferred brand??? I see hipp do a goodnight milk too, what is this?

Sorry for all of the questions i really have no clue :blush:

Thank You ladies

xxxxxxxxxx

Hi hun, if your LO is fine with his formula you dont need to switch. Follow on have more iron & vitamins but stage 1 formula have enough of both. We switched to follow on at 7.5 months as Omar was off his formula & he liked the new one more. As for good night formula, I think it's similar to hungry baby formula. If your LO is maintaining the min of 18-21 oz with 3 solids at 6+ months, you dont need to change. xx

Thanks hun , but thats the thing Harrison is really fussy with milk, to be honest he doesnt really like it (i dont think) we really struggle to get 12-18oz into him! He only tends to have 3 bottles per day and still then they are not full bottles
for example today he had
4am 6oz
8am breakfast
10am tried milk, but was having none of it
12pm Lunch
2pm tried milk but yet again, noway was he having it
4.30pm Tea
6.45pm bedtime 7oz

He doesnt always sleep until 4am, he wakes at different times through the night

So that was why i was asking what the difference was, just wish he liked milk, bless him xxxxxxx

Omar was & still the same with milk. If he's fussy with milk, switching is good as it has more nutrients & iron. Omar's max was 24 oz at 4 months, & he started to drop ozs, at 5 months he was taking around 12 oz & sometimes less (he was on 1 solid only & we had to stop offering him solids at that age because of his milk intake). At 6 months he started to maintain 15 oz, & we started proper weaning at 6.5 months. When we switched to follow on at 7.5 months, he started to maintain 18 oz. He was on 2-3 solids & 3 milk feeds at 8 months. When he takes less than the recomended I offer him yoghurt & dairy to make up for the dropped ozs. His development & growth was never affected, he's a big baby although he doesnt eat or drink much xxx

Thank you so much for your advice hun, I think maybe ill switch. I have tried to offer Harrison yogurts etc but he is fussy with them also, but im gonna try plain yoghurt and see if he will have that?
Harry is also a big baby he is 6 months and weighs 18.4, he has always been quite big he was 6.5 born but 4 weeks early.
Thanks again :hugs:

Good luck hun, also try to give him his bottles with no distractions in a dark room when he's a bit tired & try to feed him on a pillow on your bed if you hold him to feed. Until now Omar will not drink milk if he's fully alert.
