Hi,

It's hard to get responses in the weaning section so I hope I can get a couple here...

My son is 7 months old and I was wondering if I can give him porridge made with whole milk and weetabix with whole milk or do I have to make it with his formula?

Also, can he have Petit Filous rather than specific yogurts from the baby aisle?

Thanks
Bx

You can use whole milk in cooking and cereal etc yes, just not as their main drink (until they're one). You can use petite filous too but they are loaded with sugar, so I'd check the other brands for ones with less sugar personally. Or alternatively just buy some full fat natural yoghurt and add some fruit purée.

Not sure about the milk, but as pp suggested, I would buy natural greek yoghurt & puree up some pear or apple & a bit of cinnamon & give lo that (I am actually going to give this a go next week!).

Yeah it is fine to use whole milk on cereal/in porridge.. I asked my health visitor. I didn't know petis folous was full of sugar. I've been giving my son one a day for the past 7 weeks because my health visitor said they were the best ones to give him because they are designed for kids :/

Some kids yogurts have 1tsp of sugar in per serving!

We just use natural yogurt and flavour it.

Yeah whole milk is fine to cook with. Id steer clear of anything thats labelled for babies as they tend to be so expensive, and as with petit filous and rusks can be full of sugar. Full fat natural or Greek yoghurt is great and you can blend some fruit in, or give lo slices of fruit dipped in yoghurt to sook.
