I was looking up what I should and shouldn't eat on the internet and hot dogs and tuna came up. I like hot dogs and tuna is my favorite fish so I still want to eat them.

Have you girls heard anything about foods that shouldn't be consumed while pregnant?

my doctor said you can eat tuna twice a week and from what i understand cooked hot dogs are okay, but dont quote me i jhate hot dogs

Patee's, Free range eggs(like home-made mayonnaise)
Oily fish.

I think hotdogs are fine as long as you heat them well, tuna is also good :) but like Tanara said keep within 2 tins a week x

Any fish is fine, as long as you're not eating it like 3x a week. Omega 3s are essential for brain development, fish provide them. The concern with it is mercury, but you'd have to be eating it near daily for it to be a problem. I have fish once a week.

Hot dogs are fine as long as they're completely cooked. If you're doing them in the microwave, make sure they split open before you eat them.

I've been told..
- No normal lunchmeat, because of fillers. My midwife told me to only buy organic
- No soft serve icecream, because of listeria.
- Caffiene should be limited to 2 cups of coffee or tea a day, or 200mg.
- No raw fish.
- No fake sugars such as Splenda, Saccharin, Aspartame, etc.

They are mostly just guides, and every doctor has a different preference. I was told to switch to light tuna and have eaten it often (i do try to stick to the 2 6oz servings a week though) Hot dogs are bad for you in general, but I started loving them while being pregnant. Just cook them well. I usually cook mine for 15 minutes on 350 in the toaster oven. I also try and stick to hebrew national because they dont use fillers.

what is light tuna? :dohh: xx

hot dogs are fine to eat if you cook them thoroughly and best not to buy them from hot dog stands and tuna is fine to eat as long as its no more than 2 cans per week

i can not wait to have a nice liver pate baguette after baby is born...and the other day my mum, dad and FOB had a lovely mr whippy ice cream (i nicked a bit of flake off OH's lmao) and i was left with a crappy "festival" lolly *humph* lol x

I have eaten hot dogs a few times in this pregnancy, as I didn't know we weren't supposed to!
The others I have heard are patte, runny eggs, certain soft cheeses, sushi & liver.

xxx
