clothes? do i get newborn or do i get 0-3 or will 0-3 be massive and look silly or will i be wasting my money on newborn or on 0-3 im so confused i have brought most things in 0-3 at the mo and im now thinkign have a done something wrong? help lol!

Hey Hun, my DD was 8lb 8 so newborn didn't fit for long, but 0-3 was massive, so with this one, I've bought more 0-3 but a few newborn bits x

Buy some newborn but not too many, it all depends on how big baby is which obviously you wont know yet. I found with my little boy newborn stuff lasted a month but 0-3 lasted him a lot longer, so i would definitely stock up more on 0-3 stuff :)

Everyone said to me get 0-3 because new born wont fit for long. So I maybe bought a set of new born baby grows then everything else 0-3. Well my son lost so much weight in his first week that he didnt wear his 0-3 month things for ages. I had to go out and buy loads more new born!
xx

Hi,

It's a tricky one. I've got two children, and for each I've bought a few newborn vests and baby-gros from Mothercare to take to hospital as Mothercare newborn clothing goes up to about ten pounds (the newborn range in some other places, like Primark, for example, is much smaller). I've also taken 1/2 vests and baby-gros in 0-3, just in case I gave birth to a whopper! But at home I've mainly had 0-3 ready.

Maybe invest in a few bits from somewhere where the newborn range goes up to quite a large weight, as then you should get some use out of it.

Welly xx

Our daughter was just under 7lbs when she was born and she was not in newborn clothes long at all. Thankfully we did not buy too many personally but ended up with a lot from the baby shower, etc! This time around I would only buy a handful of them and buy 0-3 months for the rest. We had too many the first time and it was a waste of money!

as i think i have two newborn stuff! so thats another thing to put on my list then, what weight does 0-3 usally fit? shall i get like vests and grows and a few outfits in newborn then? i know someone who has loads of girl baby clothes to get rid of as she went mad and brought loads lol! so i will have a look at that lot, thank you.

I went for mainly 0-3, which was just as well, as Alice was 8lbs 7oz at birth and put on weight rapidly. I had thought that we'd be given lots of newborn/0-3 things as gifts, but everyone must have had the same thought, and almost everyone bought loads of 6-9 months 'because you'll have been given loads of newborn!' - Typical!

ive bought more newborn than 0-3 this time, my lo was 9lb born but 0-3 were big on her for a long time! she is stillin clothes small for her age now though, i just find that next, mothercare and george come big! i have got a few 0-3 baby grows though and will make sure i put 1 in my hospital bag incase I have a whopper! x

Can I ask a silly question?
What's a baby grow? Is that kind of like a onesie? or am I completely off?

My DD was 9lb12oz and she fit newborn just fine. My friend had a 7lb baby and it fit prem! I found the newborn nappys (up to 5kg) didnt fit long tho

Get some newborn but not loads, my son grew out of all his newborn clothes by 2 weeks and didn't have a chance to wear half of them!!

In my opinion, once you get to 6-9 and beyond you can pretty much trust those sizes, however, smaller than than and shops are SO different. For example in Next I believe their Newborn is only up to 7.5lb (where we got Ella's first outfit which fit her ONE time) and yet Asda and John Lewis are something like 9.9lb or above. So I would check the labels and buy newborn stuff which has a larger weight boundary. Also depends how big your baby is... Ella was 7lb11oz and most of the shops newborn fit for a month or so then 0-3 still was huge on her after that - but to be honest when baby clothes are a bit too big at that stage they just look so cute! Haha but that's my opinion!

Also, depends a bit on length. Ella was always petite and still is now but she has avery long torso and shorty legs like me, so being she's only 9 1/2 months old, she's almost outgrown 9-12 sleepsuits and vests, anything all in one, but dresses and tops in 9-12 fit fine, and trousers she is still in 6-9 because of her legs! So it does depend on your baby. Either way, you will need a lot more 0-3 things anyway because that covers 3 months. But get a few newborn bits, comfy things like babygrows and sleepsuits cus that's cosiest for a new baby anyway.

Sorry that was a tad rambly hehe xxx

Next do up to one month which I found great as my wee one was too big for newborn but too small for 0-3.

Hi i made the mistake of buying lots of newborn with my 2nd and when she was born she was 9lbs 4oz and straight into 0-3months.

So this time I'm buying mostly 0-3 and above. will a few baby grows and vests for newborn but not buying much newborn as dont know if he will be big like his sister was x

yeah you have it right :D

and i will need to get some newborn stuff then i will just ge enough for a weeks wear and change that way if she is big we wont of wasted loads of money.

I brought newborn and O-3 months with DS. He turned out to be 6lb 2oz at birth so he wore 6lb sleepsuits & vests from ASDA. I am doing what I did last time and take some newborn, O-3 months & smaller vests & sleepsuits with me. They do grow pretty quick though. My mate had a DD and she was 11lb 1oz at birth and O-3montjh clothes fit her. She's now in 3-6 months at 9 weeks old. Xx

My DD was 8lbs 12oz and 55cm at birth and most of her newborn things didn't fit. This time I'm packing both newborn and 0-3 for hospital and have a few other bits of newborn but not much x

My daughter was only 7.4 when she was born so when I went to put anything 0-3 months on her it was huge! I had to make my hubby go home to get more newborn stuff because the stuff I took to hospital was way too big for her. She was in newborn sleepers/onesies for weeks before she grew out of them! I would have a few newborn and more 0-3 when baby comes then you can decide if you are actually going to need newborns for long or not. I had friends whose babies grew out of newborn stuff pretty much right away so it really depends on how big baby is!
