For those TTC with PCOS

Clo - that's so exciting!!! Whoo hoo :happydance: Congratulations! Hearing your good news makes me optimistic that I'll have a success story soon too. Thank you for everything!

Btw when did you start noticing symptoms and how many dpo did you test?

Soili - Out of curiosity, if I'm not being too nosey, but have you made a decision on what you'd like to do this next cycle? I hope all is well and you're feeling better :hugs:

Thanks chick!

To be honest i tried not to symptom spot this month as previous months id had everything going .... this time i had

from 1 dpo - sore boobs but i always tended to get that when not on the clomid
from about 10 dpo - tired, bloated, weeing a lot, tummy twinges!
from about 14 dpo - nausea, even more tired, tummy twinges.

Touch wood ... i feel ok although im so bloated i look 9 months pregnant already!!!!

xxxx

I'm trying not to symptom spot either because it could be so many other things :haha: I could be anywhere from 1-6 dpo if I even Ov'd. 21 day test tomorrow. However, the last two days I've been having very mild cramping, dull back and right hip aches. Today has been much more constant than yesterday. I'm thinking its from the clomid, but one can hope :) Did you have any of these side effects after using clomid?

Hiya

Yep i had everything under the sun on clomid, backache, spots, cramps, probably because of the higher progesterone .... the only thing that i didnt have on the clomid that i did have otherwise was the sore boobs .... that was the only way to tell id ovulated before, unfortunately it was too late by then!

Yes try not to SS too much, it only causes more stress, id say look after yourself and try and relax, it wont be long and you have bloods and results to keep you going in the meantime!!

Good luck my dear :dust:

ValentinesGal, I haven't decided what to do yet for sure. I keep changing my mind every day ;) I will go pick up my CD21 blood test results tomorrow, and then drop them off at doctors. Although I'm pretty sure it'll say I didn't ovulate. And then I narrowed it down to 4 choices. One - go for HSG and SA and get Clomid. Or try Soy on my own. Or go on a pill for a few months. Or just try to forget about TTC completely and try to get in better shape. For the moment it's the last one I'm more inclined to, but like I said, I keep changing my mind every day, because none of these option is perfect for me.

Soili - Hang in there...you'll get it figured out :hugs: If you took the break to get in shape, you could always NTNP while you're doing it because like Clo_mid said, if you lose like even 5-10lbs then that alone could kick-start ovulation and then there's still a chance of winding up preggos, but without having to stress about it. Since you have your bloodwork, is there any way to tell what your progesterone level was? Just curious..

Clo_mid - How have things been and other updates?

Hi there

Soili, thats really good advice, I agree with Valentine!

Im ok thanks, been feeling mega tired and hungry all the time but had docs appt this morning and she is sending me for an early scan cos i said thats what the specialist would have done! Yay, should get it in about 2 weeks!!

How are you doing??

xxxx

I'm good. Got my blood tests back yesterday and progesterone was 4.38 :( so dusting myself off and try again next cycle. Gotta go for scan thurs to make sure nothing else is going on then prolly start 100 mg. however, on the brighter side, I have lost 6lbs yay! :) Good luck w your scan and hope for h&h 9 months!!

ValentinesGal, my progesterone is 0.8! It's even lower than it was at CD3, so I'm guessing I haven't ovulated in a looooong while. Basically the leftovers of it since the last ovulation (whenever that was, probably in September/October) keep getting washed out.

I got serious about my diet now, whatever it does to ovulation, I'd love to be a bit thinner. Spring has landed here, all of a sudden and I need help fitting into clothes ;) 6lbs is great start, congratulations!!

I'm doing something experimental here, started taking soy, right in the middle of the cycle. I don't care that you're not supposed to, it makes me feel good that I'm doing SOMETHING. So far it completely stopped my mid-cycle spotting. I really hope it kick-starts ovulation.

Soili - I've not heard of using soy...what is it supposed to do and is this a supplement or food/drink?

I went to the doc today. It appears I had a small cyst on my right ovary, a little bigger than the tip of your thumb, that's going away. So, he suspects it must have been there since before I started this cycle and probably helped prevent me from Oving :dohh: probably why my last cycle lasted so long. Anywhoo, since its going away on its own I can start the 100mg this next cycle :happydance:

How are you girls doing? Anything new?

Hello ladies, I haven't posted in a while as I thought I was giving it a break in TTC...well...I just got my BFP today! Everyone said when I stop trying it will happen, and it sure did! I've been having symptoms (sore boobs, nausea) that I didn't even think were pregnancy related. Well today after having nausea (even throwing up at times) for about a week I was completely over what I thought was a stomach bug. I POAS just to rule out pregnancy because I wanted to know what was wrong with me...Hubby and I were completely surprised to see two lines!!! I had an ultasound done today and I'm about 6 weeks pregnant!!!!
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE TRYING, IT WILL HAPPEN!!! I honestly didn't think I was pregnant because I thought it would take atleast 2 years of trying, well 8 months later I'm pregnant! The best piece of advice I can give is not to worry about it, I sware that's what prevented me from conceiving. As soon as I stopped thinking about it BOOM I get my BFP!!!

That's great news Dr.Martian! :happydance: Congratulations! Hope you have a h&h 9 months. When did you get you're BFP?

I got my BFP this morning. I'm worried about a miscarriage, as I know our risk is higher with pcos. I'm just hoping that because I conceived naturally (and what a wonderful surprise that was) that my body is healthy enough to maintain the pregnancy.
Does any one have tips to preventing a miscarriage with PCOS?

Do you normally have long cycles? If I had been just a few days late I would have been testing like a madwoman :haha:

I'm sorry I don't know of anything to help minimize the chance for miscarriage since I've not been preggo before. I have read on other threads that some ladies have problems with their progesterone and therefore, have to use a cream or supplement of some kind. It seems to be effective for many of those women who have had previous miscarriages due to low progesterone...not sure if that helps!

Hi girls! So I took two frer this morning and *poof* :bfp: Dr. was really confident that I didn't Ov this month since my 21 day test was so low and the US didn't show any proof that I did either. What a complete shock! Now need to go get blood work done to confirm and get my progestrone checked again.

Dr.Martian - did you find any info on reducing the risks of miscarriage?

Clo_mid - How have you been?

Wow Valentines, ive been keeping my eye on this thread in case there is anything i can help with or advise and just saw this!! :wohoo: Wow i bet that was a shock, i did two at a time as well and it was amazing to see ... bet it feels a bit unreal! Whats the next step??

Im fine thank you, got my early scan and midwife appts on tuesday and really hoping all is well, i have been ok apart from some nausea and tiredness so cant complain really!

I hope everyone else here is ok and hopefully our good news just shows you that it CAN and WILL happen to you all!

:dust:

I hope you scan goes well! Let me know how it goes. The next step is to talk to dr. tomorrow and get everything checked. Hoping everything comes out okay...I'm kinda nervous. It def. feels unreal. I keep going 'how in the world'?!

I agree Clo, even when we have all these odds against us and even dr's saying not this time, we will all find those bfp :)

Hi, i'm 24 and was diagnosed with pcos about 10 yrs ago. Never seen it as a big problem til me and my husband started ttc. We've been trying for over 2 yrs now and no luck.
I've been thru the ringer with tests and takin vitamins and hormones to try to restart my periods. I usually have one period a year. It has been the most depressing 2 yrs ever. I am overweight so that really hurts my chances. I'm on a diet plan and have lost 20 pounds this month alone, but periods have not returned to normal. I am hoping once i lose enough weight, the dr will be willing to give me metformin or clomid to help. Ready to give up.....:(

Hi Rdy! I'm sorry that you've had so many difficulties and frustrations :hugs: That's awesome that you've lost 20 lbs in one month way to go! How much weight does your dr. want you to lose before he'll start you on clomid or metformin?

I am hoping once i lose enough weight, the dr will be willing to give me metformin or clomid to help. Ready to give up.....:(

Wouldn't metformin actually help with weight lose? It's used to lessen PCOS altogether, not just to help conceive. You might wanna bug your doctor about it.
