Loads of people change entirely to formula at 6 months - often it is the time that women are returning to work and if they don't want to be pumping at work they decide to give up breastfeeding. Personally, I think if BF is going fine and you are happy to stick with it then you should do so - doesn't mean you can't give formula now and then though. If you do it every day then of course your supply will reduce.
