Not really, they all say they are closest to breastmilk, some will suit your LO more then others though. Weve used SMA, Aptimil and Cow & Gate (my dd had bad colic) and Aptimal was best until we got to 2nd stage then cow & gate was.
Not really any idea. We started Harry on SMA, and then I think I read somewhere that Aptamil was better so we switched to that. Harry preferred SMA, and Aptamil is more expensive... so i've no idea why we did it!! I haven't switched back because i've also ready you shouldn't keep changing their formula. Sometimes I wish I didn't read so much!!
There probably isn't much difference except price lol. I was going to mix feed so the midwife said Aptimil is the closest to breastmilk so we started Chloe on that one but once i realised i couldn't BF we didn't bother to change formula. Although we did try her on SMA once and it went straight through her so thats probably why i haven't changed formula
i used aptimal as its reccomended by mw to complement bf'ing, i did switch to cow and gate as it was cheaper abd had the same ingredients but swapped back to aptimal after a few weeks as he seemed to be more satisfied with aptiamil
aPTIMIL HERE she was on sma at first but she had really bad colic and my health visitor sma gold is known to give bad colic, aptimal is the best choice i have made,
xxx
aptimal as recommend by midwife was told to stay clear of Sma but i dont see why some babies get on good with it IDK but i have not really had problems with aptimal and Oh seems to think it tastes good to when he drinks it of his wrist after checking temp
It must be a cow and gate thing then! Ffion got weighed today and she's 9lbs 9 1/2, she was 8lbs 4 11 days ago! I've been a bit worried that i haven't been giving her enough as she hasn't moved up oz for a good while now i can relax with that weight gain lol
I BF for two months and then switched to Aptilmil because everyone said it was the closest to BM. But I couldnt stand the smell of it so switched to cow and gate.
we started aly on sma in hospital but it made her very ill and was constantly throwing whole feeds up, in the end she ended up with low sodium levels in her stomache from all the being sick and was put into special baby care unit!
they put her on aptimil and shes been fine ever since, i like the taste of it too! lol
It depends on your child and also if the parents have allergies. I was told to feed a Hypo-Allerginic formula as I am allergic to dairy and wheat.
I use the Nan HA, expensive but my kid likes it. At 3 months he was too hungry to I was told to try Similac (sp) which fills them up more, but it made his colic worse so I went back to the Nan HA. Tried the normal nan when he was 11 months and he refused to drink it.
