Formula feeding from start?

ANY breastmilk is better than none....

I don't really see what this has to do with the topic or answering the OP's question?

Agreed - not helpful.

Actually, I can see why it is helpful as I think she was trying to say that if you only do the colustrum (sp) then it is better (IHO) than not doing it at all. Therefore answering the OP.

Please feel free to correct me though Goldenwonder.

You asked whether you would give colostrum, and my (albeit rather too short) post was in response to this as nikkiangel said. Colostrum is wonder stuff re setting up your babys long term health so even giving a few days is advantageous over ff from start. Sorry if orig post was abrupt ......

The two main benefits of colostrum are the laxative effect which helps baby to pass that first poo (which in turn lowers the chances of the baby developing jaundice) and passive immunity to some pathogens.

So there is some info about it, it's up to you to decide. I've already said that I would even if I chose to formula feed.

At the end of the day so long as baby is getting fed what does it matter? Your baby will love you no matter what.

Feeding colostrum won't really affect your breasts in any way (meaning either way, your milk will come in eventually and it will still be uncomfortable for a few days till it dries up).

Do take breast pads in with you no matter what you decide, take painkillers for the discomfort if needed.
