Hi I am new to this group, I am not sure if I am posting in the right section/group...but here goes.

I just had my 2nd child (17 yrs apart) so I am pretty much starting over. My son is now 15 weeks weeks and will be 4 months on the 3rd of August. He was born early, incubator, feeding tube, jaundice the whole 9 yards, I couldnt hold him for the 1st 4 days, and he didnt come home until the 12th day. SO they started him off on Neosure, and yes he did well for the 1st month, then major gas, so they put him on Enfamil Enfacare, well he was spitting up LOTS, was screaming, and bubbling/foaming at the mouth, so long story short he has acid reflux, so he is now on meds for that, along with being on Nutramigin cause he also was colic. Well the colic is gone, but he spits up ALL the time, no matter if it is 5 mins after feeding all the way up to his next feeding and it is very watery, and at times mucus like with cottage cheese looking and its not just a little. I seem to have to change his clothes a good 4-5 times a day. Yes I know babies spit up, but not like this. He also ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS has the hiccups (he even had them inside of me ALL the time) which I also know does have lots to do with reflux. Anyways, he is always hungry and pretty fussy, and seems to not burp very often, and when he does lots comes up, and sometimes he doesnt burp for least 30- 1 hr later. He is eating 4-4 1/2 oz every 3 hrs except through night which he does sleep. I have try to sit him up for periods of time after eating, I also have try to let him be after feeding

So much question is I was wondering if anyone has ever still had issues when their baby was on enfamil nutramigen? I was wondering anyone was has ever did half and half of formulas? like half Nutramigen and half AR? Or if anyone has better resluts with AR?

We also have days where my son screams ALL day long and I mean ALL DAY, and not a colic cry/scream. I have been using gripe water, not sure if it helps. gas drops never did anything for him, I actually seem to see more crying when using them.

He is starting to teeth, so I ended up getting Humpries teething strips cause I heard Hyland are good but not good for babies with reflux. I have gave him Tylonel a few times but dont like to.

so like I mentioned I am at a loss when it is coming to the formula, he has been on enfamil nutramigen for almost 2 moths now and when 1st started we saw a whole new baby, but now its like the symptoms are back.

so any advice would be great! His next dr appt isnt until middle of August and I am not going to wait that long I am going to make appt for this week and would like to go in with some suggestions.

also this little Mr Man fights his sleep during the day like there is no 2morrow. hes fine at night but during the day...nope it takes atleast 3 hrs to get him to sleep. and when he does he sleeps about 20 mins, and lately has been waking up in a scream.

Anyways to sum it up, was wondering if I should try mix 2 formulas to help with the spit up and also help fill him a little.
The dr has try him on Similac Sensitive already and made him worse, and Gentle by Enfamil made his fussy.
Also was wondering if maybe the can formula may be better then powder

Hi I also hav a reflux baby he is 14wks old and we are using aptamil 1 with 1 sachet gaviscon and 3 drops of colief I used infacol before each bottle and if needed some gripe water we also hav latchaloes medicine for constipation as the gaviscon can do this.

I started giving him baby rice along with his 5pm bottle will do this for the next 3 weeks and planning on weaning him at 17wks as early weaning can help the reflux. We also hav his mattress tilted and keep him upright as much as possible. X

Has your baby been tested for a dairy allergy ?. Mucusy sick can be a sign of it. My wee one has reflux too. He's been tested for an allergy and thankfully he's fine but on gaviscon and infacol. Keep him upright for as long as you can after feeding (we bought a swing) and I was told to let him drink as much of the bottle as he can before winding as breaking the feed can make them swallow more air.

Goodluck :flower:

Hey, just wondering what meds your LO is on? We had weeks of this till we asked...no...begged for omeprezole and it has made huge difference, now we trying to fix feeds as he has been grazing all day long so can't help on feeds front but reflux wise I recommend omeprezole it's saved us from purple screaming baby and now have a happy baby that's a pain in the bum to feed but happy and no screams :thumb up: he does now stick out his bottom lip when he's cross haha so cute and much easier to handle than screams x

Reflux sucks! We tried it all and the only thing that helped was sma stay down which you can get on prescription and upright after feeds for as long as you can. Good luck and defo test for dairy as lots of reflux babies have an intolerance xxxx

Ps; my dd didn't x

I would say a dairy allergy. It also makes them throw up constantly. My first had a dairy allergy and had to be on soy. He would throw up the most fowl smelling mixture of rotten milk and snot ALL OF THE TIME. I wasn't really sure how he gained any weight.
Mine did not sleep hardly at all due to the constant stomach pain and gas. And the ready made formula was instantly given back to me in the entirety. A week after we switched to dairy free he was a different baby. It does take up to two weeks for the milk proteins to leave their system but you should see some improvement after a week.

Thank u ladies.... sorry it took so long to reply we have been to dr then it was my husband bday. My son has gained 2 lbs in 6 weeks so that is a plus... so one thing the dr said was he has out grew his dosage of reflux meds so they upped that. then he has also put him 1 teaspoon of rice cereal for every 1 oz of formula,(so 4 teaspoons every feeding) to help with the spit up)...and OMG have I seen a whole new baby! I have been wanting to put him on rice cereaal cause I have been told it would help but wanted to get the ok from the dr just cause he was so early and a preemie. He goes bk in middle of August for his 4 month check up...fingers crossed everything still is going smooth!

Also the reflux meds he is on is zantax

I have noticed he is still eating every 3-4 hrs but not always eating the full 4 ozs, SO I have been giving him 3-3 1/2 oz of formula with cereal except the last bottle of the day,and I am not giving him every bottle with cereal in it,trying to do every other bottle or every 2 bottles and so far so good
