Hi I am new to this group, I am not sure if I am posting in the right section/group...but here goes.
I just had my 2nd child (17 yrs apart) so I am pretty much starting over. My son is now 15 weeks weeks and will be 4 months on the 3rd of August. He was born early, incubator, feeding tube, jaundice the whole 9 yards, I couldnt hold him for the 1st 4 days, and he didnt come home until the 12th day. SO they started him off on Neosure, and yes he did well for the 1st month, then major gas, so they put him on Enfamil Enfacare, well he was spitting up LOTS, was screaming, and bubbling/foaming at the mouth, so long story short he has acid reflux, so he is now on meds for that, along with being on Nutramigin cause he also was colic. Well the colic is gone, but he spits up ALL the time, no matter if it is 5 mins after feeding all the way up to his next feeding and it is very watery, and at times mucus like with cottage cheese looking and its not just a little. I seem to have to change his clothes a good 4-5 times a day. Yes I know babies spit up, but not like this. He also ALWAYS and I mean ALWAYS has the hiccups (he even had them inside of me ALL the time) which I also know does have lots to do with reflux. Anyways, he is always hungry and pretty fussy, and seems to not burp very often, and when he does lots comes up, and sometimes he doesnt burp for least 30- 1 hr later. He is eating 4-4 1/2 oz every 3 hrs except through night which he does sleep. I have try to sit him up for periods of time after eating, I also have try to let him be after feeding
So much question is I was wondering if anyone has ever still had issues when their baby was on enfamil nutramigen? I was wondering anyone was has ever did half and half of formulas? like half Nutramigen and half AR? Or if anyone has better resluts with AR?
We also have days where my son screams ALL day long and I mean ALL DAY, and not a colic cry/scream. I have been using gripe water, not sure if it helps. gas drops never did anything for him, I actually seem to see more crying when using them.
He is starting to teeth, so I ended up getting Humpries teething strips cause I heard Hyland are good but not good for babies with reflux. I have gave him Tylonel a few times but dont like to.
so like I mentioned I am at a loss when it is coming to the formula, he has been on enfamil nutramigen for almost 2 moths now and when 1st started we saw a whole new baby, but now its like the symptoms are back.
so any advice would be great! His next dr appt isnt until middle of August and I am not going to wait that long I am going to make appt for this week and would like to go in with some suggestions.
also this little Mr Man fights his sleep during the day like there is no 2morrow. hes fine at night but during the day...nope it takes atleast 3 hrs to get him to sleep. and when he does he sleeps about 20 mins, and lately has been waking up in a scream.
Anyways to sum it up, was wondering if I should try mix 2 formulas to help with the spit up and also help fill him a little.
The dr has try him on Similac Sensitive already and made him worse, and Gentle by Enfamil made his fussy.
Also was wondering if maybe the can formula may be better then powder
