So a week ago lo's dr changed his formula from enfamil newborn to enfamil gentlease. He was extremely gassy and very fussy from it screamed when he passed gas and hated laying flat. So I also changed his bottles to strictly dr brown he gets colief in every bottle then if he's still gassy I give him a different brand orally.
I've seen a huge improvement over the last 2 days (his dr said it would take about a week to show any difference.) he's not as gassy and not so fussy either.
So I feel like between everything it's working for him.
My thing is I'm out of the sample cans his dr have us to use to try it so dh bought some of the ready to drink to get us through so he would be on it a full week before deciding if it has helped. Which I think it has. But I'm wondering if while I have the spare money and its on sale at target I was going to buy the single container then the box that is 2 refills. Which I have no clue how long that will last but wanted to get as much as i could with the extra money I have right now.
Do you think it's a good idea? I guess worse come to worse I can keep my receipt and not open the box of 2 refills in case we get through the tub and it has to be changed for whatever reason.

What would you do??

I'd go for it and keep the receipt.
Also, we were doing Dr. Brown bottles (with Gerber Gentle Start) and our boys were still gassy. We went to Playtex drop-in bottles and they are MUCH better. I was surprised because Dr. Brown is supposed to be so great, but the drop-ins have been a huge improvement.

I would just save the money in case. I know walmart will not take formula back even if unopened. you might check with target. I have about 6 cans of formula in my cabinet that I can't use as its milk based and we are now on soy.

I'd don't think you can return formula at all, even unopened and with a receipt. Think about it - would you want to give your lo formula that someone else had and could have possibly tampered with it or even just not stored it properly (like left it in a hot car or something)? I'm 99% sure no store will take it back for that reason.

I'd just get the one big container for now and save the money you would spend on the refills for when you're ready for more in case you have to try something different. Not saying you're lo won't do fine on the Gentlease, but we switched my lo to it from Enfamil Enfacare (for preemies) and she was better on it for about a week and a half and then got gassy again so we switched to Good Start and she was better and is still on it. Every baby is different though so hopefully your lo will just continue to do well on the Gentlease, don't stock up just yet though.

I didn't know you couldn't return unopened formula. I change my answer! lol

I just got the one container and glad I did because lo has been spitting it up really really bad and his gas is pretty bad the last 2 nights also.
Not sure what to try next or if I should take him to the dr and see what they say or what.

Technically you're supposed to consult your pediatrician before changing formulas, with my lo though I did it on my own because the Dr. wanted to go right to hypoallerganic and I wanted that stuff to be a last resort. My recommendation would be to try Gerber Good Start Gentle.
