Hi all,

My LO is just gone 4 months, she has 6oz bottles 5 times a day, she's started waking more often for a feed in the night and is hungry as she polishes off a bottle. However she doesn't always finish a bottle in the day whichis why we haven't upped her to 7oz yet.

The question I have does formula get thicker the more scoops you add? As you're adding more water too? I was just wondering because I thought I might offer her 7oz bottles even if she doesn't drink it all, to see if it helps her stay fuller longer, as 6oz bottles don't seem to be doing it any more.

Thanks x

(ps. this should be in the formula section hun)

It won't change the consistency...as you're adding more water like you said. You can try to offer her 7oz. Dylan doesn't always take his whole bottle...but if you start offering 7oz during the day, try to stretch the time between feeds out, which will help her polish off the bottle next feed.

Katie was having 6oz bottles but i noticed that she was wakin avery 3 hours in the day and started polishing off some of her bottles, i started her on 7oz bottles the other day and she has been drinking nearly all of it. all i can suggest is try her with 7oz bottles for a couple of days is she doesnt drink it go back down to 6oz. how often does your LO feed in the day? xx

It doesn't get thicker as it is always 1 scoop to 1 ounce of water, but it will give your baby more food, just in a higher amount of liquid. If you want to keep the same amount of fluid she's on (say she won't take 7oz), you could try hungry baby milk, which is made to feel more filling.

She feeds 4 hourly during the day, she used to have a dream feed at 11pm and then would sleep till 5, but now she's waking for the dream feed (when before it was what it says on the tin a dream feed) and then is awake again by half 2 wanting more and awake again at 7.

Maybe it's a touch of sleep regression?

Why should it be in formula section I know it's a formula question but I thought this was a general section to ask any question and advice on your baby?

Thanks for your advice anyway x

it could be but my LO is only 2 months so i havent reached that yet. to get katie to sleep through she was fed every 3 hours so she didnt need anything through the night, now she has a 7oz bottle whenever she needs it and sleeps through every night. i would definately try 7oz bottles, or the 6oz bottles maybe 3 - 3 an a half hours a part to fill her up? xx
