At 30+6 I got some adorable 3D pictures of my baby girl... but I can't help but analyze the crap out of them now... Her left eye looks like it's swollen like crazy compared to her right and it's in all the pictures so I'm really nervous :( Anyone else have 3D images that scare them???? I am going to show my doctor next week and I'm scared shitless she will say there's a possibility of a deformity :( I attached some of the pictures. I think she's gorgeous but at the same time I'm really worried about that eye :(

There are so many things that can cause your images to be distorted. In a lot of our 3D images, baby's nose looked really weird. He was hiding behind the placenta, which will distort the image quite a bit & adds shadows where there shouldn't be.. But he was also trying to suck his umbilical cord too, so that further distorted the images! It could be that your baby had the cord in front of her face or to the side slightly & that's caused her eye to look like that. The sonographer would have told you if there was anything to be worried about. Sending hugs xx

I really wouldn't worry, it's hard for the machine to get everything into focus at one time, and there's a lot of things that can obscure the picture (feet, hands, cord, placenta, etc.) To me, that image just looks like a shadow from that part of the face being less in the camera focus.

I agree with both PP. Its likely nothing at all, its hard to get everything in focus, especially because babys do move quite a bit during US as well.
I do want to add that she is beautiful! Thank you for posting, it makes me even more excited for little mans next scan on monday!

Oh don't worry! I'm sure she is perfect at 30 weeks she is becoming squished in there and there is so much surrounding her that can cause her to look different

Beautiful pictures by the way

When we had our 3D ultrasound, the tech told us not to worry if the babies looked weird. She said it was a matter of filtering through the various layers that the ultrasound picked up, and it was impossible to get a relatively "flat" surface to look at. So sometimes a hand looks freakishly weird, or an eye seems to be bulging, or the head seems to be oddly shaped.

I know it's tough not to worry, but try not to. :) Just chalk it up to the limitations of the technology! :hugs:

When we tried to get a 3D scan the picture was terrible....my darling husband commented "it looks like a Chucky doll!" 3D scans don't always work so well hah

THANKS, LADIES!!! I feel a lot better!!!!!!! I can't wait to meet my little Vivian in another 4 weeks! (If I'm lucky and don't go overdue...which most 1st timers do lol)

Girl, when I had a 3D ultrasound done with my first, I thought it was going to be amazing and precious - I SWEAAAR it looked like my baby didn't even hands!!! It was SO freaky. I won't be doing it this time - haha. It's nice to be able to see more in depth, but it's also just so weird looking due to something about the technology. Don't panic at all - I'm not kidding, my baby didn't have hands in my 3D ultrasound. Lol. Obviously, she had hands and was perfectly normal when she came out :)

The same happened to me. My boy looked like he has a deformed nose. It freaked me out a bit but he was born last Saturday and he's perfect! :happydance: I'm sure your baby is perfect as well .

Same with me! As soon as my baby appeared on the screen I said "does she look like she's got a big nose to you?!!", I've been studying my 3D scans and thinking all sorts! Haha. It's going to be fine, I'm sure we all wouldn't look like we actually do if we were squished in someone's belly now.

My 3D scan made my DD1 look like an alien. Parts of her head seemed to missing. She was perfectly healthy but it put me off getting another 3D scan.

I thought my baby was going to be born with the biggest nose in history. But he was born with a perfectly small little button nose. Don't worry honestly :)

She looks perfect and beautiful!
On my daughters she looked like she had a big lump on her heading some of the pics, and on others her nose looked huge lol. Honestly everything looks great to me try not to worry 😊 if there were any problems they'd have mentioned it.

Baby is very squished in there, things are going to look a little different. My little girl was cuddling the placenta, with her foot by her head. Her cheek looked deformed against the placenta. It means nothing. Very normal

Personally I think they make baby look horrid.. Definitely not for me. The sonogram person, would say if there was a abnormality.. They are trained professionals.

With my first I had it done and his pictures looked nothing like him they were a bit creepy. And like others have said his nose looked huge!

My sil didn't even end up getting anything decent as it looked like my nephew had a leg growing out of his head. Her's was so bad they didn't even end up charging her.

The sonographer would have pointed out any issue :flower:

When we went for our 3D scan baby was being very awkward with its hands feet and cord all pushed into his/her face. The resulting image looked like it had a 1/4 of it's head missing  I was gutted as DD's 3D scan was perfect and I compiled a book for her pregnancy which I now feel I have to do for LO#2 :dohh: xx

They all look deformed, don't freak out. It's not an ACTUAL image of your baby, it's just heat imaging used to guess what is in there, basically. I thought mine had a sloping eye like homedude from The Goonies ("hey you guuuyyysss") but she came out perfect.
