Frozen turkey

I've never ever done turkey before but this year we have when should I take it out the freezer to defrost I have no idea how long they take to defrost xx

How big is it? Big ones need plenty of defrosting, smaller ones don't. xx

Erm not sure it's big though about twic the size of a large chicken xx

It will tell you on the package at the back. Some of them can take up to 36hrs at room temp. so if its a big one you really should check. x

I defrost a chicken in the fridge 24 hours before using it so if it's double the size of a chicken I'd say 48 hours. xx

we got ours out the freezer tonite as its an extra large one so could take a week to defrost

I took mine out at lunch time just to be safe it's a 8 1/2 lber xx
