So I've seen Aunt Bessie is doing honey glazed parsnips so I'm contemplating getting some in with some frozen roast carrots and potatoes too for xmas day. Me and hubby usually share the Sunday dinner cooking but something always goes wrong and we get the timings messed up. It's just the two of us for xmas day and we'll be having Aunt Bessies yorkshires but wasn't sure if it was a total cop out to get frozen veg? I've never tried it before, we usually have frozen mixed veg from Tesco, like sweetcorn/peas/little carrot bits for adding to sauces and stuff but wasn't sure how parsnips and potatoes etc. faired. Are they nice? After wastage etc. they work out at about the same price as us buying fresh without having to faff about with preparation. On xmas day LO will be 6months ish so the idea of trying to entertain him while watching the dinner and preparing it etc. does not amuse me and we'd also like to spend as much time with him as possible and take him for a nice xmas day walk (a family tradition for me) and don't want to be 'wasting' time on making lunch.

Obviously in future years I'll probably relish cooking the xmas dinner but this year I just can't be bothered.

Have any of you tried the frozen veg (parsnips, potatoes etc)? Are they any good?

We used it for the 1st time last year and will be doing so again this year, it tastes yummy and means you get to spend more time with the family, go for it I say!

I would, spesh with the baby and it only being you and your OH. Means you can have more family time without having to prep veg x

Yay! Go to waitrose and get there stuff! Its really cheap and the carrots ect taste like there freash .. no one has ever known the difference! :D

nah everythings fresh for us for crimbo dinner and im gunna be 36 weeks pregnant! we cheat on a sunday normaly but not for christmas! hehe

I was planning on stocking up on some frozen things but going to a local far a few days before, what i cant get from them i will use frozen, otherwise i will just use the frozen another time.

I like the idea of it all being fresh, and i really dont mind the prep and hubby is a great cook. But i cant deal with the hassle of christmas shopping, esp by then i will hopefully have a baby!

The Aunt Bessies range are fab!! Roast spuds are amazing! What i will say with the parsnips is cook them lower than they say, and a smidge longer than they say and they turn out SO yummy!! Oh i want some now!! mmm hehe xx

Cheers! Can't find carrots anywhere though!

i'm a big fan of frozen veggies, less time and preparation so you have more time for yoruself!

Well I ran it by hubby last night but he kicked off about how he wanted 'fresh' for xmas. So he's apparently going to bus and walk to Sainsburys to get a pre-pared tin like we did last year. I've ordered some frozen ones for Sunday dinner though, hehe.

Them aunt bessies honey glazed parnsips look mouth watering and I've already written them down on my food list.
