Pretty much what the title says, ha. TMI but I've had really bad gas and gas pains since about 4 am. It actually woke me up in pain. I've been passing wind and burping a bunch and it felt really uncomfy to be laying down so I couldn't go back to sleep! I took a warm bath and it helped for a bit, and I had a (long awaited) poo which I thought would help as well and it kind of did for awhile but the pains and burping/bloating are still there.

I actually called the doc as I was concerned it's gone on for so long but they are insistent it's normal. I told them my BM was kind of loose and I had the chills a bit as well and they reckon I have bug, combined with a uterus growth spurt that is common around 27 weeks.

They didn't give me much advice on how alleviate it, though, so I don't know what do do. Should I try some gas pills?

(Sorry for the double post...tried 2nd tri forums as I don't move 'here' until tomorrow but no response, so this must be a problem that comes with bigger bump)

I suffer from horrid gas and poo pain! It always feels trapped in there, the only thing that has been helping me is ginger tablets to reduce gas and chamomile tea. I ate a crapload of cherries and watermelon,, helped to temporarily flush it all out

Sorry you suffering from gas...the only thing I use to help me with constipation and it also helps prevent me from being gasey is the use of glycerin suppositories. I checked with my doctor who said they were safe to use during pregnancy but I am not sure if everyones doctor would agree so check with your doctor.

Here is some helpful tips I found:

•Don't eat big meals. Instead, eat several small meals throughout the day.
•Take your time and chew thoroughly. Don't talk while you're eating.
•Limit how much you drink during meals. You can make up for it during the rest of the day.
•Drink from a cup or glass *– not from a bottle or through a straw – and don't gulp your beverages.
•Avoid carbonated drinks.
•Avoid anything sweetened with sorbitol, an artificial sweetener.
•Sit up while you're eating or drinking, even if you're just having a small snack.
•Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and avoid any tightness around your waist and tummy.
•Don't chew gum or suck on hard candies.
•Get moving. Even a brisk walk can help your sluggish digestive tract.
•Take care of constipation, since it can add to flatulence and a feeling of abdominal bloating.
•Don't smoke. In addition to contributing to a host of serious health problems, smoking boosts stomach acidity. (Ideally, this is a habit you should break before getting pregnant. If you're still smoking and having trouble quitting, ask your caregiver for a referral to a smoking-cessation program.)
•Consider practicing yoga or a similar discipline to learn relaxation and good breathing techniques. Some people who are prone to hyperventilating tend to swallow more air when they're excited or anxious.
•If these relief measures don't help, ask your practitioner whether you can take an over-the-counter gas remedy that contains simethicone. (Don't take activated charcoal tablets, because they aren't safe during pregnancy.)

Hope you feel better :hugs:

I've been having lots of gas and kinda crampiness from eating too fast! If I slow down it is much better :)

Thanks for the tips. :) It's just really uncomfortable...thank goodness I didn't have it last night.

I have had the same problem.. but I have noticed since bouncing on my ball a lot it actually helps relieve the gas and any constipation.. :haha:

I woke up to terrible gas pains last night that I mistook for contractions for a minute. They really hurt and I still can't go to the bathroom, but tums helped me calm the stomach down somewhat, and also lying on my left side.

I suffer with this alot, even before I was pregnant, sometimes I can walk it iff,or sucking mints help, but best of all peppermint tea,it's horrible but within 15 mins it's gone, and I do suffer bad with it,it's certainly worth a go.
Xxx

You poor thing. <Me too. I get this so so bad I could cry. OK top tips - Number 1 eat regularly, it pushes everything down. If you go for more than an hour or two without eating, gas bubbles up and starts to get sore. Number 2 - stretch. After I have dinner, I go on all fours rock back and forth for a while, then lean back on my knees stretching my entire abdomen out, they crunch up on all fours again, stretching out again after. This way I get loads of the gas out, it can be quite spectacular!

So sorry..its hard enough to sleep while your pregnant and gas does not help!
