does this work straight away? the docter prescribed it today ive just given her her first feed with it and she was loads better but still had a bit of discomfort, is this normal and will it get better?x

should work over the first couple of feeds yes, if there is still discomfort tomorrow then you may need further medication on top x

ah nightmare shes still not taking all her feed and is screaming after 2oz. so distressing

perhaps a slient refluxer (bascially constant indigestion but not a great deal of vomitting) - my DD is a silent refluxer. she is on ranitadine and it has a helped a lot. it was a struggle to get more than 2ozs in her at one point. go back to your gp hun.....X

I use gaviscon now for 4 weeks, it seems to be better than 4 weeks ago, but! it's not so quiet good, Oliver is still sicky and crying after feed, and he's very uncomfortable during the night. Yesterday I've asked my doc if it's anything else we could try, but he told me i should give more time to gaviscon to work...so how long? 6 months? really confused

Noooooo Gaviscon should only take a few days at the most!

been back to the doc and she said as long as she is putting on weight to just feed her little and often.she also said i have to give the gaviscon time to work. today we have been putting it in comfort milk instead of the normal one and it seems to be making a difference.x

I got told this, two days later LO ended up in hospital and almost had to have a feeding tube put in as he started associating feeding with pain so just stopped feeding. Apparently GPs can't prescribe ranitidine though, it has to be prescribed by a peaditrician at the hospital.

The gaviscon took a few days to work for us, then as he got bigger and put on more weight it stopped being effective so he's now on ranitidine and domperidone too.
