I've been testing my sugar for almost a week, started medication 2 days ago, my sugars are finally decent but this morning I tested positive for moderate/large ketones in my urine. Anyone have experience with that?

The diabetic nurse I met with told me I could spill ketones if I didn't have enough calories or carbs, but I'm following the diet as close as I can and have been pretty close on with both.

I spill ketones if im dehydrated i find i have to drink 2-3 liters of water a day i also found adding an extra snack helps as well

If you find you are positive for ketones more than once i would contact your ob or midwife as well

Thank you! I drink a ton of water every day and do snack before bed, but I'm usually up in the middle of the night, I may as well eat then too, I'm also usually hungry. LOL

I eat every 2-3 hours during the day so 8am for breakfast than 1030 snack lunch at 100 snack at 330 supper at 7 and a snack at 830-9pm before bed that way i still have my eight hour overnight fastong as well i have 30 grams of carbs at each snack and meal as that is what my dietician requires

My diet and times are pretty similar except I'm supposed to have 45 carbs for lunch and dinner. I see my doc tomorrow and the dietician again on Tuesday so I'm curious as to what the heck they'll say is next. LOL! Glad to have my sugars under control at least.

I was the same. No matter how much I ate or drank, Ialways had large keytones. Never really found out why, was induced 2 wweeks later. I wouldn'tworry too much, sugar level is the iimportant one. I weighed 7kgs less than my prepregnancy weight after I gave birth
