GD at 33 weeks

Hey had ++glucose in my urine at 32+4 (friday-hospital appointment) and was told to go see my midwife today 33 (monday) for another urine sample. So again my urine has ++glucose and they booked me in for a glucose test on monday 8th Feb.

It's it very late in my pregnancy to be diagnosed with GD?

Should I be doing anything special to combat it just incase I do have it?

Should I be concerned?

I was around 30 weeks when I was diagnosed.

There are a couple of things you can keep an eye on, the first (and obvious) one is sugar intake. The other is how many carbs you eat. Things like white bread are full of them and making a few changes can really help. Start having a look at packets for the carb values, its quite surprising. I am allowed 70g carb a day in total to give you an idea.

Sugar levels stabalise at around 38 weeks so if you do have gd I would imagine that you would be on pills as a worst case scenerio, the more likely is just monitoring your blood 4 times a day.

If you do have it, dont worry. Its quite easy to control. I am due in a week or due and my lo is no bigger than average, they just dont let you go overdue with gd.

I have been diagnosed at 32weeks with "raised blood sugars" following an investigative gtt at 31weeks despite a normal gtt at 25weeks.

I am very scared about what will happen. At mo, i am testing 4x a day, controlling food (fat and sugar) intake. I just want to get through the next 6 weeks safely...but it is very upsetting for me to know my food may have been hurting baby before I was diagnosed.

i got diagnosed at 33wks pg and now on insilin what fun and atm uncontrolled but u could have worse probs than that so dont worry im not allowed to be induced even tho i got a big baby thing consultant on a power trip grrrrr good luck hun xxxxxxxxx
