Genetic Testing Question

Hey ladies!

My IVF cycle was cancelled for this week due to a clinic sending out my B/W a month ago for the wrong test. We had found out two months ago DH was a carrier of cystic fibrosis, so my RE's clinic was going to do the full analysis on my DNA strand to see if I was a carrier of CF.

Anyway, we have to use Quest labs to do the test, and were told it might take anywhere from 30-40 days, which would be pushing it for a February cycle. Did anyone have to do genetic testing? How long did it take you to get yours back? I read that it takes about a month on average. I'm really beginning to feel discouraged, as we've been waiting since November to start IVF.

Mbrink, I'm so sorry this is happening to you and it's so frustrating. We had genetic testing one and I tested positive for the CF gene. My DH then had to get tested and he is not a carrier and my RE was not satisfied with that and then... The RE had to test my DH for another 32 mutation test (which ended up being negative) It was exhausting to say the least. I can't really say how long it took because in the meantime we were able to do an IUI, but not IVF (so strange). There is always a wait with IVF, it's certainly a test of patience. Hang in there and try and relax, you will need it.

I know it's frustrating, but hang on, it'll be worth it in the end.

Thank you for replying! Apparently the first test that was done was just a basic screen, which came back negative but they wanted the full test done to make sure I was good to go. Somewhat frustating. I feel like I'm always at the mercy of the clinic in regards to waiting on the next phone call or bad test result. I'm sure you know exactly how that feels though! Definitely trying to be patient but its SO hard.

IVF is so hard in itself, but especially hard is all the waiting, waitng for testing, waiting for sono, waiting for blood results, waiting to see how many eggs you have, waiting to see how many fertilized, waiting to see if its a 3 day or 5 day transfer and the hardest 2ww. If couples who go through IVF arent prepared for a baby, I dont know who is.

I have been through 2 IVF's and 4 IUI's with no apparent reason, all mine and my DH tests has been normal thus far. I am determined to be a mom and I am sure you have the same determination!! My RE said you will get pregnant, if you wait it out...
