I had GD in my first pregnancy and am being monitored for it this time round. Just wondered if anyone knows when it would be likely to start this time round and whether I should expect it to be worse this time? xxx

I think it really varies depending on the individual. I had it with my first and have had it this pregnancy as well. I started checking my sugars when I was 6 weeks and they were already high.

I had kept my log from my first pregnancy and it was interesting to see that my blood sugar levels the first time around were not nearly as bad. During my first pregnancy, I was on 2.5 mg of glyburide at bedtime the entire time (never increased my dosage). This time, I'm now 31 weeks and am at what my doctor said is the max dosage at one time (10 mg at bedtime).

In order to stay within targets, I've had to have much tighter control this time. I remember last time I would eat a sandwich for lunch and some chips (counted each chip out of course) but now that same sandwich is all I can have.

If you're worried, maybe you can start testing and just see what your numbers are like? It hasn't been fun this time around since it's been since the very beginning but it's almost over at least. Good luck hun, hoping you can avoid it a second time :flower:.
