Gestational Diabetes in first pregnancy, anyone got it again in second?

It's basically as the title suggests.

I was diabetic first time around with a GTT reading of 11.8. Controlled with insulin and induced at 38w5d.

I'm now pregnant again and I got my first GTT booked next week.

Was anyone diabetic twice?

I've just been diagnosed in my second pregnancy and been to diabetic clinic today. I was 9.2 after GTT but they have put me straight onto Metformin this time.

I have gd this pregnancy too. Im on bedtime insulin but my numbers are way better this time.

I was diagnosed with GD after a GTT of 11. I was 36 weeks at the time and managed with diet control and was induced at 39 weeks.

With this pregnancy I started keeping a close eye and testing my BS before and after meals quite randomly just to see what was normal for me from about 16 weeks.

At 20 weeks exactly my fasting numbers started creeping up and I have had to really really tighten up my diet to keep things where they should be.

Diabetic team are happy to let me carry on with diet control though for the time being

I had it in my first (GTT 8.8) and so far so good with second. Passed GTT at 18 weeks (3.6) and have fingers crossed for next GTT on Weds (28 weeks). X

Metformin is a tablet rather than an injection. I think it's a stepping stone between diet control and insulin injections. So hopefully that will be enough for me this pregnancy.

I had it in my third, controlled with diet. Lost my fourth and have it again in my fifth pregnancy, now rather poorly controlled with insulin.
i have a feeling i probably developed type 2 between 3rd and 4th but never got it checked out.

I wouldn't say metformin is a stepping stone between diet and insulin. In Canada they won't give oral meds for GD so insulin is only choice. If you had GD in your first pregnancy you are much more likely to also develop in second. Hope u dont though. Good luck!
