Gestational Diabetes...

What is your hospitals cut off for gestational diabetes ? In the U.K ? My hospitals cut off is 5 for fasting and 10 for 2 hour... My results where 5.1 and 10.1 Only 0.1 over the cut off... I didn't think 5.1 was too terrible for fasting, i was always told under 5.3 is good

Are you talking about the GTT limits or actual GD?

I'm not sure!

I've literally just been diagnosed and I need to keep my levels between 4-7 2 hours after meals and mine usually average between 8-9. The morning test has to be between 4-5.5.

I tested 4.7 before my GTT and 10.3 after.

Thanks, yeah i was meaning the limits for the GTT... Have you been told if you will need insulin or just diet controlled ? I had GD with my last pregnancy but it wasn't till after 28wks, so i was kinda expecting to be the same this time, Hospital didnt tell me my results last time, but kinda gutted that i was only 0.1 over the cut off this time... Just wondering now when all the extra appointments will start.

I am hoping to keep mine diet controlled but have an appt this week to talk though my results so far.

As I say, my results were 10.3 after the GTT and my doctor said this was ok but he was very wrong, the diabetic midwife said normal limits for non-pregnant people were 10.0 and above, but for GD it is 7.8! So anything over that is GD! I was a bit shocked to say the least. Because it took 10 days for me to see my midwife to find out I actually had GD, I was rushed through and had a growth scan and met the diabetes midwife the very next day.
