Gestational diabetes

I have eaten whole grain cheerios for breakfast with some yogurt or an egg with a slice of bacon. Who knows If that's good or not.

Is anyone on Instagram? I'm on there as @JustmeGemmy & I post my best meals on there if anyone is interested? I think it'd be great to see other ideas too :)

I've had the best results when pairing my carbs with plenty of protein, fat & green veg/salad. So I'm still able to have potatoes, pasta, bread etc :) xx

Be careful with the carrots, if your sauce is tomatoey or you'll be serving potatoes. The FB group I'm on recommends at least doubling your protein/fat/low carb veg for each portion of carbs. If you use creams etc, be sure to use full fat & not a light version as again, they'll slow the processing of your carbs :)

Last night I managed sausage, mash & beans with a side salad.. I put full fat milk, butter & cheese into the mash. It was delicious!

And I'm so sick of toast & peanut butter for breakfast. It was slowly killing me off, I had to force myself to eat it! Yuck. Tried some Ready Brek yesterday with some walnuts & seeds mixed in, & some pistachios on the side. That worked! Hurrah! I miss cereal so bad xx

Thanks, I will watch out for the tomato sauce & carrots. I <3 cream sauces and we're not scared of fats in our house so wouldn't be buying the light version of anything. I can lose weight and feel good with high fat, veg & protein diet over carbs.
I was told in class to steer clear of corn & potatoes.

Your breakfast sounds good, my gf used to make high protein banana pancakes and throw nuts on top. I went to the diabetic store and they had a pancake mix for quicker cooking, will give that a try on the weekend. We usually cook breakfast sausages or bacon rounds on weekends, love that with a piece of fruit or bran muffin. Bran muffins have been really good to me with not raising my blood sugar, maybe all the fiber in them?

The advice given seems different depending on where you're from & who's giving the advice. I've been ok with potatoes, I don't tend to go over 200g for my own peace of mind, and pair them up with some protein, fats & veg & have had great readings so far! It's all about trial and error mostly & of course, there's the possibility that it may get worse thanks to an increase in hormones anyway!

Be careful with the diabetic pancakes, only because I've noticed that carbs can be quite high in some diabetic foods.. I'm not sure why?! But paired with some nuts will help I'm sure! I'd love a pancake!

I made some delicious peanut butter & choc chip blondies this afternoon & they've been great for my numbers afterwards. Angel delight has been a nice treat too, the no added sugar versions. I'm all about the sweets :haha: xx

The stuff at my diabetic store is all very low sugar low carb stuff Charmed. Here's an example of one of their pancake pack brands: https://dixiediner.com/shop/bread-and-breakfast/carb-counters-pancake-waffle-mixes/
They have chocolate cake & muffins too. I'm cautious with the products as some have soy and others have artificial sweeteners. I don't eat soy anything and will have artificial sweeteners very sparingly.
