Yesterday at my appointment I found out I failed my one hour blood test, it was 158. I have a 3 hour blood test on Friday. Do you think there's a chance I will pass the 3 hour test? The more I think about the more nervous I get. :(

I just failed mine too. 151 :(. My next test (3 hour one) is on the 12th of Oct!! Ekk! I was told with numbers like that it could be controled with diet.

Hopefully your 3 hour test is good! I'm worrying myself about it. She said it could be a false positive but wants to do the 3 hour test just to make sure. Diabetes is in my Mom's side of the family but my brother has it and has to take insulin. So I'm worried. I want my baby to be okay.

Aw, I hope yours goes well too! Yea, it's on my moms side too. So I kinda guessed I was going to get it, no matter how much weight I gained.

I think your baby should be okay, I don't really know too much about it yet. But from what I know, as long as it's treated, it doesn't do too much harm. xx

Thank you! :D
I was worried about it all along but I was still shocked when I heard her say I failed it. So far I have gained about 20 pounds and at my ultrasound they told me my baby is about 4 pounds. And I read pregnant women with GD tend to have a larger baby so maybe that's why she's a bit bigger. But she told me my baby is perfectly healthy and her measurements are good. I still worry though.

I think they do it different in the US. We have different fasting tests etc but I have GD and it's a matter of trying to manage it via diet (most important) and insulin, if needed.

It's naturally very worrying but not all babies are bigger when mummy has GD.

There are associated complications but they're rare and if the GD is managed, all is ok. It's better to find out if you have GD or not as then it can be treated and the potential complications are reduced dramatically.

It's good that you've been told your baby is measuring well etc. If it turns out you do have GD, you'll be ok and you soon get used to the diet etc. There's a lot of support on here, too :)

Good luck for the test :flower:

Thank you! Yeah, I'm not suppose to eat or drink after midnight tonight. She told me it can be controlled with diet unless its real bad. I'm just nervous about it. I really don't want it but if I do have it, I will take care of it 100%. :D

Ohh, that's good! Since they told me she's 4 pounds already I thought that meant I must have it. Maybe I read way too much stuff online then worry myself even more.

I'm glad that everything is going well with your GD. And that there's support here.

I'm waiting for my 3 hour blood test to start. Looks like its going to be a boring 3 hours. And this place is packed. Glad I have my Mom with me. :D

Thank you! :D
I got one poke done and I finished my orange sugar drink. I got 20 minutes til my next poke.
*fingers crossed*

Well I actually ended up getting sick half way through and they couldn't go through with the other 2 drawls. :( So I will have to do it over, do it another way, or she might be happy with the first 2 drawls.

Oh no! :( I'm really scared that I will get sick right away! Hope they are happy with the 2. x

Me too! I hope you don't get sick either. About 20 minutes after that 2nd drawl I started to feel real hot and I just couldn't hold it in any longer and afterwards felt a 100 times better. I told them I was feeling sick and they told me if I threw up they couldn't finish it. I just couldn't believe I got sick when I was half way done. :nope:

I failed both 1 and 3 hour test and started being treated for GD this past week. Right now I am just checking my blood sugar 4 times a day. At first it was a little high but I think that I am getting a hang of it, My levels have been relatively normal. If they take a turn for the worse, by Doc says I will have to take the pill first, then if that doesn't work I will be taking insulin. I hope that I can control it with diet. I really don't want a big baby. Good luck with your test, hope everything works out for you.

Good luck and I hope everything can be controlled by diet! :D
Thank you. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to see if she wants me to redo it. So is there any symptoms to having GD or is it just something they catch during the test?

I got a call from my doctor today telling me the first 2 blood drawls were perfect so I don't have it. :D I hope everything goes great for you ladies that do have it. Good luck and keep your head up! :flower:
