getting feeding established when you have a toddler?

Hi all

I have a newborn who I'm trying to BF, and a 15 month old toddler. Does anyone have any tips for juggling feeding times? My oldest isn't the type of boy to sit still for long and he's always on the go. I don't want him to hurt himself but don't want to restrict him while I'm trying to feed as it wouldn't be fair

Any tips?

A few girls on here recommend the slings where you can feed your baby on the move so can still occupy your toddler.

I just let Poppy do what she likes while I feed (she is almost 2 though so can mostly be trusted to play nicely ) I think lots of books or DVDs might be the way forward for you, and keeping the door shut to keep him in the room you're in if necessary.

i have the same gap as you and a boy too with alot of energy! its easier now, but i used to make sure he had somthing to entertain himself - snack, toy, book, cbeebies! and i also closed all exits so he still had room to play but couldnt escape my view! its a game of constant distraction techniques xxx gets easier tho x

Hi. Congratulations!!!! I would try and maybe get some snacks and meals ready for your toddler so u can keep to their routine as much as possible. I had a lot of family round in the first couple of weeks and they helped out a lot. Toby is 2 now so I can happily trust him to play by himself etc but I tried to make sure he had all his meals etc at same time as usual. Also like Bec L said maybe get some DVDs for him to watch and C beebies is always a good one. xx

I am worried about this too. Ella is the type of kid that is never still unless she's sleeping. She won't watch tv or read books, always need to be doing something active. I have no idea what I'm going to do!
