I'm in the process of weaning DD from nursing (as of tomorrow, we're down to one feed/day!) The only thing is, she doesn't have the hang of sippy cups yet, so she can't drink water from them. I bought her a different kind of cup with handles but a bottle-like nipple, and she knows how to drink from that, but generally she'll just take a couple of sips and that's it. The ONLY time she's had a decent amount to drink from her cup is when I put a little orange juice in with her water, but I'm worried about doing that too often, as I don't want her to have all that sugar. She still has wet diapers, but not as full as they were when she was nursing all day, and I'm concerned she's not getting enough fluids. (She has a large bottle of milk at night, and nurses when she gets up in the morning). Any suggestions would be soooo appreciated!!!

With us, it was just a matter of practice. She couldn't figure it out for a long time, either. Once she finally did, she could drink from it but not hold it - it took awhile but now she can hold it just fine.

She also had more trouble with the soft silicone spout, since trying to coordinate the bite and suck was difficult. She did much better with the longer (not shorter) hard silicone spouts.

Otherwise, continue to offer it to her; she'll get the hang of it :)

Hi, I gave LO an empty cup to play with for a few days so she got used to it, then I put some ice in her water so it rattled/ clinked in the cup & sounded interesting!! It seemed to work as she drank her water quite well in a short time & had only ever been nursed prior to this. Hope this helps! Good luck.
