I have no idea what your talking about to be able to help you sorry! Why don't you wait till after so you don't have to tone things down? It is your wedding after all.
A lot of Catholic churches dont like wedding during lent - we would change it but it would mean rebooking a lot of things (and the place I live is rubbish for venues etc)
They also dont like flowers in the church during Easter n Lent so just need a couple of alternative ideas - someone has mentioned feathers or something along those lines
Ah right! Did you purposely book it during lent?
Could always use taffeta or silk swags mixed with candles on candelabras for a beautiful backdrop. Feathers are also a nice idea as long as you don't go overboard that it looks tacky if you know what i mean. Another idea may be to actually get a definition of what you are not allowed rather than trying to contemplate what you can use! Hope this helps! x
That sounds like a better idea my OH is going to try and get another booking with the Priest as ours is leaving next week so we'l have a new one might be good to compile a list of questions i like the idea of the candles etc
We choose lent as it falls exactly to the date we got together its also my grans 80th birthday so its all go go go
There might be some changes to the mass if you are having a full mass; I believe the Alleluia is not done/said throughout Sunday masses in lent. but this is a minor detail = I'm sure the priest could be helpful with that.
It also depends on how traditional yourself and your families are in regards to Lenten traditions. Technically the doctrine of the Catholic church is against "partying" and celebrations during lent as it is a period of waiting, and abstaining, and just plain somber in general. But I'm sure many people in this modern day and age would expect you to celebrate your wedding with a lovely party, supper, and/or dance. This isn't the middle ages anymore
Is your wedding on a Friday or Saturday? Some people don't eat meat on Fridays throughout lent -so if you're having your dinner that night, or even a rehearsal dinner that could be something to keep in mind, perhaps if you have a fish or vegetarian option available to guests.
Granted some people of other Christian faiths go through the entirety of Lent without eating any meat.
