i am getting married in mach 2012, i know its a while away so still got my thinking cap on anyways since i was little because my birthday is on st patricks day i always make an effort wear green etc, so thinking i might tie this into my wedding thinking might have our colour scheme as emerald green???? its currently dark blue and white but what about Green and white... we are having a scottish theme so its kinda hard to tie it all together plus there is a football divide in my family (celtic and rangers) i don't want any hassle just thought it would be nice to tie it in, i have some lovely shamrock confetti my OH got me for my birthday last year...

does anyone think this could work or am i being stupid???

It's always lovely to tie colours into a theme, but just be careful not to make your wedding more about st patricks day than your personal wedding day iykwim :flower: You don't want people thinking oh she's celebrating st patricks day and not oh she's celebrating her wedding day x

its also my birthday :D lol

so will be wedding, my birthday then st patricks day :D its not going to be OTT just some green in the theme :D wasn't sure if it would clash with the scottish theme.

It will depend on the types of green and blue, I'm not good at stuff like that tbh buuut I have heard you mention your family tartan what color is that? In all fairness it might be better to stick to 2 colors instead if 3 as it will make things more complicated, sounds nice keeping in with the green tho maybe you could have green instead of blue? With hints of your family tartan?

but your scottish? isnt st patricks irish- or am i being dull?

my family and OH's family are from scotland mostly, but since i was a baby i have always made a huge deal out of st patricks day because of couse its my birthday, my OH is actually Mcpherson not Macpherson, so his name is Irish, but tartan we're getting is the clan Macpherson tartan lol... he's very irish loving person and because i love st patricks day and our wedding is falling on st patricks day i thought the colour scheme would be pretty fitting...

we're having macpherson mordern clan tartan i believe which has blue/red/green etc

Ooo the green and blue in that go really well together! Maybe you could pick one or the other and stick with that, like the blue then have little sublte hints of the green as a little insider thing for you and hubby, maybe a green garter! or green in your earings, green leafs being a big part of the flowers (I asked for all the green to be removed from mine:haha:)

choose 3 (maybe 4 at a push) colours .... some people are not matchy-matchy people but too many colours can look mismatched iykwim. xxx

i might stick with the dark blue theme and have few shamrocks in places like on the invitations, the place cards, on the tables and maybe a pin on my dress and the kilts and the b/m and f/g dresses? just little ones but enough to be seen?
