giving cooled boiled water

hi all; i've been slowly changing over to ff and have noticed that my lo doesn't seem to be weeing as much. as she's been bf from birth i'm not sure when/if to give cooled boiled water.

when did you decide to give cooled boiled water and how did you introduce it?

how long can i leave cooled boiled water in a sterilised bottle at room temperature?

edit - also wanted to ask when to give the water - during a feed, before a feed, after a feed???

i give max water once a day, about 1.5 oz, partly because its hot here and i dont want him getting dehydrated, and partly because since changing to FF he seems to find it harder to poo, ive found the water helps things along. i give it to him in between his morning feeds but not too close to his next feed as water still fills them up, and i dont want him being too full for his milk.

edit - btw max is only 3 weeks, ive just seen your LO is 4 months i wouldnt have thought you would have any probs

I tried to give Mirren cooled boiled water when she was constipated, but as she has reflux she just immediately brings it back up. So to get the extra oz of water into her I had to add an extra half oz to her milk bottles. I know it says not to dilute the formula on the pack, but how else could I have done it, lol.

You don't really need to give water, unless they are constipated or the weather is hot. If you do your LO should have no probs. Treat the water bottle as you would a formula one, only keep it on the go for 2 hours then discard.

I dont give Omar any water. according to his Dr. he doesnt need any before 6 mnths. He's FF since day 1. We started weaning 3 wks back, & I give him sometimes few sips 30 mins after his solid feed (he only takes 1 solid per day). Never had wee or serious poo issues. Omar is suffering frm reflux & he always spits or throw up after taking water so I try to avoid it.
