For some reason I am having an awful time deciding on what kind of glider to get for my nursery. I know I want it to be light beige/tan, tall enough back so DH can lean his head back, wide enough to fit a future toddler with parent, and to obviously be comfy and gilde. I don't like the gliders with the wood frames, I like all upholstered ones (like this: https://www.toysrus.com/product/ind...957.2273443.2256245.2256276&parentPage=family )

So the decision is between:

A) A glider that reclines (but does not glide while reclining... I would use a pouf/footstool for gliding when not reclined), or...

B) A glider with a gliding ottoman (no recline).

Thoughts and input? What have other moms loved/hated??? TIA! :flower:

I cant stand those gliders. There are times whe. youre in it for hours and you need comfy and no more back pain. I got a huge fluffy lazy boy recliner for the nursery. It is awesome. I could sleep in it. I probably will if my back injury acts up anymore. Gl!

We used a recliner/puffy chair for my ds and it was great! It rocked perfectly when not used as a recliner, but when I was breastfeeding and wanted to kick back you can bet I used the h*ll out of that recliner :)

Lots of votes for recliner!

Did you miss being able to rock/glide when your feet were up?

Honestly, not really at the time. But now I have an actual rocker (not glider) in my son's room that was handed down from MIL's family (some antique rocking chair that I still need to purchase cushions for lol) and it is nice to rock him to sleep when he is having a rough night. I don't think you can go wrong with either

I have a lazyboy rocker/recliner. It rocks while reclined (but not with the foot rest up). I have never missed having my feet up, but I'm really short and they don't really touch the ground well when I'm sitting anyway.

We were given for free a glider with a gliding ottoman/foot stool thing. The foot stool thing was useless and has been in storage or tossed long before babe arrived! We have used the glider a lot..... But our little one loved to be rocked so when she was sleepy we could sit and "rock" in the chair till she fell asleep. Now she is 17 months and just likes to climb on it! Baby number 2 on way and will put in his/hers nursery. A rocking lazyboy chair in my opinion would be way more comfortable. There have been nights where we all fell asleep in the glider.... Or babe just wouldn't settle and we were sitting, with numb bum for what seemed like hours!

Good luck!

And as someone said, u can't go wrong, whatever u purchase will be used. And u won't know any different so will come to love all your snuggles and 2 am wake ups!

I used a regular wood glider with an ottoman with my dd and honestly for this baby I'm looking on craigslist to buy an actual real like lazy boy recliner, for the same reasons as others have listed. (I've seen a few really nice ones in great condition for less than $100!) There are many times I wished so badly that I could have reclined back and been able to doze off a bit while comforting my dd in the middle of the night, especially when she was sick and would only sleep while I held her. The gliders are nice for the purpose of gliding, but not very comfortable for you when it comes to sitting there all night! A regular lazy boy recliner rocks back and forth too which would be the same effect. Plus you can just put it in the livingroom when you don't need it in their room anymore.

Thank you thank you thank you, ladies for all your input!

I'm feeling more confident in my decision to pick my reclining glider that I like. It's big and comfy, still remotely stylish. Now I just need to find a 20% off Babies R Us coupon! haha

If you put it on a baby registry you will get 20% off it without a coupon! and no one has to see the registry if you aren't having a baby shower  I may have to do that with things we need for this baby!

Bmama, we only get a completion discount on out BRU registry after the shower. I can't wait that long as this chair is special order taking 12-16 weeks. :/
