IM going out for the first time in ages and it will be the first time i have left Jack.

im only going to be out about 3 hours so im leaving him 8oz of milk and some baby rice whilst im gone. is that enough???

also im planning on having a drink is this ok it will only be one or two???

I wouldn't drink, just incase! I don't know much about it though so that's why. It might be alright? Might be worth googling!

"In the UK, many doctors and midwives advise women that drinking in moderation is fine."

thanks i was wondering if it was allowed or not x

I have a glass of wine most nights. Apparently you only need to express if you have 3 or more standard sized glasses. Thats what my HV said anyway!!!

thanks kat looking forward to unwinding a bit :wine:

I think it'll probably take me that long too! I wouldn't even let my hubby take him to Tesco the other day - and he sleeps the whole time he's there!!!

im the same in nearly 6 months the longest i have been away from him was an hour to visit my nan in hospital, and then another hour and abit yesterday to go food shopping thats it!!

I had half a bottle of wine and 2 cocktails on my annual xmas lunch/shopping trip with friends and I pumped when I got in and chucked it. I'd been pumping in preparation and left 3 feeds so I could wait till the morning to BF again.

I do have a glass of wine most nights though. I start it while feeding (now!) as it pbvoiusly doesnt get straight into your bloodstream. By the time I feed again its pretty much gone. A paediatrician friend told me a glass of wine is fine and some would argue it almost benefitial to Mum. :)

Have a lovely time Claire - you deserve it!! You're one of my BFing hero Mums!!! xxx

I think the amount you're leaving is just right. He seems to be about the same weight as Ally (maybe slightly less now?) and he has around 8oz. I'm sure he'll have a lovely time, and you should too!

So how did it go hun? Did you have a fab time and did Jack enjoy himself and behave?

havent gone yet LOL. leaving at around 7 have to go get ready soon though x

i have had an accident though i had pumped 5 oz this morning and was in the process of pumping more this afternoon and i some how manged to drop it and lose all the milk i expressed so i have to wait for a bit and try and pump the last 3 oz for jack before i go x

My sister will have a drink usually in the evenings...she'll do it while or just after breastfeeding. No more bizarre sight than seeing a woman breastfeeding with a glass of wine! lol. But her DR says it's fine, best time is to do it while feeding or just after as you're furthest away from the next feed and the alcohol will be out of your system by the next feed!

Oh no, did you not feel like crying?! I'd be gutted!!
Have a great night x

i was gutted i couldnt believe im back to bloody sqaure one now :hissy:

Oh no!!! I had this the other day - expressed 5oz while feeding in the morning. Oliver was sick everywhere and in the mayhem, I must have knocked the pump over. It had a leak in it and, by the time I had noticed it, it had leaked half of it all over my bloody sofa!!! Gutted!
