I am feeding my lo cow and gate and on the side of the box it says age 2 weeks approx weight 8lb to get 4oz. now she is 2 weeks tomorrow but not 8lb so do i go up an ounce or is it a judgement call?

I would say its a judgement call, if she is constantly finishing bottles then try her with another ounce and see how she goes.

Would ignore the box hun and go with what you feel, all babies are different. I was looking at box too and by that she is drinking too much for her age but HV said it was fine. She said if baby drains more than one bottle a day then to add another ounce (obv only up to a certain point lol, doesnt mean she will always drink it but at least its there if she decides shes hungry

xx

My lo eats twice as much as it says on the box and has done for 9 weeks!!. Go with what she wants/needs, if they have to much she will sick it up, you can't overfeed them don't worry.

thanks for the replys everyone. Yes she is draining a few feeds a day so think I will give her the extra ounce. As you say babybel its there if she wants it. Thanks again xx

Yip, ignore the box!!

I have usually waited til they have drained 3 feeds a day before upping the ounces.

My LO has always taken less than what the box recommends and her weight is on track.

you give your baby what you think she needs, not what the packet says. thats just a rough guide but all babies are different! xx

I dont think I have EVER read the box as the boys have always been less weight than their age. I find they take more at specific times of day too

I found the box instructions completely unrealistic - we were consistently on about twice the recommended amount during the early weeks.

its your choice u know if she needs more feed or not. my little girl was 7lb7 born was totaly draining her bottles at 2 days old mw told me to put her on 4 ounces so she was on 4 ounce at 3 days old lol. shes on 5 now but we think she be going on 6 ounce verry soon.

I make up 4oz bottles, sometimes Demi drains them sometimes she will only have 3oz but at least its there if she wants it. Shes back to her birthweight of 6lb 12oz now too. xx
