Hi all,
have just finished my first gonal f and timed intercourse cycle with AF starting this morning. We are unexplained and are meant to be doing 3 cycles this way before moving onto IVF (we weren't offered IUI because of the new NICE guidelines that discourage IUI for unexplained). I didn't get a trigger shot as I ovulate naturally, but this meant that I ovulated a few days later than when the doc expected me to, so my first progesterone test showed no ovulation. I booked a second one for 9 days after my positive OPK and that was on Tuesday and showed I ovulated.
When I phoned this morning to say af had started and to book my next cycle, the doc said that this couldn't be a 'proper period' as my progesterone had been high on Tuesday and therefore I had to wait till my next period before starting with injectibles again. As you can imagine -was gutted. After 3 years LTTTC, the last thing you want is to wait a cycle out.
I explained that my normal LP was 11/12 days but he didn't seem to think that mattered. He said something about the other follies that were also growing (I only had one 18.5 at scan - the others were 11 and 9) and that we couldn't stimulate my ovaries again until we were sure things had gone back to normal.
When I moaned about waiting four weeks, he seemed to think that I would bleed again sooner than that. He has said that instead of 2 we will try one more cycle with injectibles and then chat about changing to IVF. As I am 37, I don't want to have tons of delays.
Anyway sorry for the long rant, but I guess I'm asking if anyone else has experience of this taking a cycle out of injectibles? And if they've been told that a period is not a real period?!
