I had my initial consultation on Friday with good news really. Our hospital is the Luton and Dunstable but they gave us a choice of centres so they obviously dont do it at L&D. Oxford, Cambridge, Hammersmith or St Barts. Has anyone had treatment at any of these places? Any recommendations?

We will get 3 free cycles, so 6 attempts with the frozen eggs. However, I just posted another thread about some pains I was having and there's a possibility I could have PCOS-If I did, how would this affect our treatment if atall??

I'm having a trans vaginal scan in 2 weeks. Is it painful? What is involved?

We were told as soon as she refers us we can have the treatment in 8 WEEKS! Very quick, my friends have taken months and months one has been waiting 2 years! I dont qualify as a nurse until next Summer so I want to time the treatment so get pregnant on the course, and I have the baby (if it works) after I qualify. How long do you have to work somewhere inorder to get full mat leave? I'll be working for the NHS so I assume its the same all over the country. Anyone know this?

Sorry theres a lot here, Im trying to get my head around it all at the minute. Bit overwhelming as there's so much info to take in but I'm really excited that its all finally happening for us!!!

Hi Hun

Cant help on all the questions - but here goes...

I am at Hammersmith hospital. They are really lovely - I have found them to be super quick and efficient. My first go didnt work out - but as soon as I sent them an email letting them know it hadnt worked I got a call that afternoon saying that the doctor had reviewed my notes and they wanted to start me on the second go after three cycles - and they sent the consent forms in the very next day. which is so much better than any of the other experiences other girls have had on here.
Its a real trek over there so you need to factor that in (i travel there from watford) - as all the scans etc are early morning. But it is worth it.

Trans - vag scan not painful at all for me - just need to relax and you'll be fine.

If you check out the HMRC government website www.hmrc.gov.uk it will have maternity info on there - cant remember off the top of my head - sorry.

Hope this helps.

Good luck sweetie,:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Thanks hun :flower: I also forgot to ask if you can have more than one embryo transferred. Is it the law that its only 1 or can u negotiate with them?

I can't help much at all, but the trans vaginal scan didn't hurt at all.

Not sure on policy where you are but here in Aus they prefer 1 but will transfer 2. It is law here that no more than two at a time. If you have enough eggs I would go for two transfer but that is just my personal opinion.
All the best :hugs:

Hammersmith will do two - but will try to convince you to do only one - you just need to be strong and stand your ground - once I told the Dr I had looked into it and had made a firm decsion he backed off. I have heard on another forum of hammersmith offering to give you free freezing (usually costs £550) if you only do one - which is outragouse bribery!!
i went for two the first time (didnt have any to freeze so cant cooberate the freezing story) and neither implanted - so defineitly asking for two again this time around.

Hmm I will have to look into it for the others aswell as we havent decided where to have it yet. Did you look into Beckic or did u just say that to try and convince them? Ive looked on the St Barts page but there isnt a fertility department? Not sure where else to look about the info. Ill try and do some digging. Thanks for all your help girls!!!
