Got to ask this, could this happen

Hey Worrisome - I am in the same predicament could be 5 wks or 8/9wks. I had a short period which could have been IB instead the month before. I told Dr when I got my BFP and he said come back in 2/3 weeks - early days yet. It annoyed me cause if I am further along the scan will be later than hoped.

I too am very big and bloated - have written a few threads on bloating and progesterone levels. I am bulging from ribs to belly button then belly button down like a letter B. I am struggling to wear trousers.

I had a friend who had twins and at 10 weeks had a proper bump. And I've known people get negative tests up to 3/4 months but still been pregnant. Obviously you are not going to know for sure until you have a scan, but could definitely be possible that you are further and/or having twins.

I have 6 year old twin boys.

I fell for them in March 2003 straight after having a MMC in January 2003. I had quite alot of pain in the beginning and a very feint positive pregnancy test. I went to see my GP who ordered blood tests and sent me for a scan..suspecting an ectopic pregnancy. When my blood test results came back my levels indicated I was further on than I was saying but when they scanned me they could see nothing in my womb. I has blood tests repeated 48 hours later and my hcg levels had more than doubled. I was rushed in to emergency surgery for ectopic. When I came round from surgery they told me both my tubes were empty and I was still pregnant. I was told to keep my fingers crossed that the surgery didn't cause me to miscarry and to come back 2 weeks later for a scan.

I went back 2 weeks later for them to find....twins! Hence the high hormone levels despite a feint positive (using predictor tests in 2003). My symptoms started 1 week after they told me when I was 7 weeks pregnant and I began to wear maternity clothes (elasticated waist trousers) before I was 12 weeks.

Because of my experiences I would say anything is possible. Do you have twins in your family (I didn't!)?

But I did find what you said very interesting. We do have twins on my side and fathers side, although am I right in saying its just the maternal line?
Well a little update I have my scan date for 6th April. Worried now in case Im too early to see anything lol, never mind further on (which for the record I really cannot see being the case)

I think twins do follow on the maternal side but non id twins can happen at anytime...releasing 2 eggs.

I am really bloated at the moment, everything is getting tighter but that is probably because I am eating more bread based things to ease morning sickness and bread always bloats me out!

Thanks twingleton, yeah Im trying to not eat as much wheaty products in case its that, but still got the bloat lol.
