Daniels poo seems to always be green I told the health visitor yesterday and she seemed concerned but didn't recommend anything the only time it's not been green is when I gave him hungry baby milk at night then it went to yellow but I found the hungry baby milk made his sleep worse so now he is just on sma yellow, he as suffered from trapped wind before but since changing his tests to variflow he seems a lot better. I am just a bit worried as the hv sounded really concerned when I told her they were dark green

My little ones poo was green on SMA, apparently it's a common thing, not completely sure why.
We've changed to Cow & Gate now and it's back to the usual yellow. She seems completely fine with the change and I actually think she is less windy etc on it.

the milk is givin LO belly ache if its dark green id try changein the milk thats what i did for my LO cow and gate is a good milk more gentel on the stomach i found sma really upset my daughters belly and her poo was dark green xx

SMA contains more iron than other formulas and so quite often makes poo green. This is totally normal and nothing to worry about hun. FF poo's can be any colour and consistency - the only time to worry is if they are pebble like, indicating dehydration or constipation, or very loose and contain mucous or blood.

Fran was on SMA gold from birth and she always had dark green poo until she swapped to cows milk x

In breastfed babies green poo can be a cause for concern - as others have said it can be a sign of tummy ache - but please don't worry because it is normal for a baby on SMA xxx

My babys poo has always been green it only ever changes colour if i giver her food with carrot in or something orange, the only time the HV ever got worried is when it went very pale green and very hard. She's been on sma yellow, aptimil, sma staydown and enfamil AR all with the same results :/ i thought babies poo was supposed to be green :/ xx

Thanks I was starting to get worried as the hv made out it was really bad glad to know its not just Daniel with green poop

my lo had green poo for months and he was ebf at the time it just sorted itself out- he was perfectly healthy and gaining weight with lots of dirty and wet nappies my hv said it nothing to worry about and she had no solution/answer

I was always told, green poo means a bad belly.

xx

Nope green poo is completely normal on SMA hun, Jack's poo is dark green and paste-like with yellowtail mustard seeds! Been like that since the first day I put him on formula, it's completely normal for SMA xx

My DD's poo was fine to begin with but seemingly ever since I went on some antibiotics for a UTI 3 weeks ago it has been green. Its not normal and does usually mean tummyache:(. My DD is breastfed and I figured if it was down to the antibiotics it would have rectified itself by now. It has been worrying me quite a lot. I have read that it is usally down to a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance in breastfed babies due to too much lactose so I have tried only feeding her one boob for several feedings in a row, tried modifying my diet, cutting out caffeine and dairy but still no change. I mentioned it to my HV and the doctor but neither were concerned because she has put on a lot of weight and doesn't seem affected aside from the colour! In fact my HV said it's probably because she is greedy and feeds too much!!

try not to worry my lo was like this after having normal poo- he had green poo for several months it just rectified itself. I think if you lo is gaining weight and having plerntly of wet and dirty nappies its ok.

No, it's not normal in breast-fed babies love and you're right can mean tummy ache, but in formula fed babies it can be totally normal for baby to have green poo - especially if the brand contains a high iron content like SMA which the OP is using.

Have you tried posting a thread in the breastfeeding section to see if any of the lovely ladies there have any suggestions hun?
