Gross but - How do you clean your ears?

Not far, i just push it as far as i am not hurting myself. My husband always starts choking and eye's watering so i always have to tell him off! There's a point in your ear that it's far too sensitive to touch so you kinda just stop there!

A midwife when I had LO because I asked about cleaning her ears and my Nan who was a nurse said that ears are self cleaning, wax in the ear is there for a purpose and shouldn't be removed unless it's causing a blockage so I never know whether to clean mine or not

I've never cleaned my ears and just had a poke in there and nothing...

I tend to use a cotton bud every morning and after a shower too. I go through a ridiculous amount! I wear earplugs at night so inside my ears feels itchy in the morning :haha:

I also love sticking a cotton bud in boiling water and then putting it in my ear. It feels SO nice. I'm weird, I know.

sorry first of all 'q-tip' :haha: in other words, cotton bud..
I use these, but not all the time, it makes me cough  my other half is the same if im in one room and i hear this cough, i know hes cleaning his ears, when i was a bit younger after diving in the pool on holiday i seriously hurt my ear and for ages it was horribly waxy, i had to use tweazers to pick the wax out, very cringy and painful if you pluck them little fine hairs LOL.
i prob do mine once a month, sometimes less often, i dont get real dirty ears, but when i put my finger in i can feel i big lump of wax, ive tried loads to get this out but the doc says they are super clean, so god knows. it drives me mad though once i start cleaning i cant stop..

quick question, what about babies ears? the other day my LB had really horrible waxy ears, i cant fit my finger in to get it out, the towel also wont go in, and i dont want to push it in :s..

Different places, different names for things. Everyone in US calls them Q-tips, pretty much, no matter what brand they are.

Nothing, I just make sure I clean them with a cloth in the shower, same with the kids, my dad never let me use cotton buds and me and kids have never had any problems with our ears:)

I use a baby wipe and just put it over my finger, poke it gently around her ear (my finger is obviously big enough that it doesn't actually go 'in' her ear) and it cleans up any excess wax  She laughs as though it tickles. I do it about once a fortnight and easier after she's showered.

Was just going to say its like how we say hoover in the uk for any vacuum cleaner.

I use q tips aswell

You should never use them in your ear! I have had several ear specialists tell me that it's a bad idea. The more you use them the more wax your ear actually produces because you're irritating it. The point of wax is to remove dirt from your ear.

I never clean mine, I thought they were "self cleaning". Never had a build up or anything. I do clean the lobe though but definitely not inside. I can remember watching a program (I think it was my strange obsession) of a woman who constantly cleaned her ears and wasn't satisfied until she picked something out.

what a q-tip? is it a hair slide thing? if so thats what i use lol

I was wondering if I should admit to using a hair grip....!! They've got so much more cleaning power!

its what i have always used lol. my mum always used one from when we were little. and its also what i use on my boys. when they are really small i put a baby wipe over it and just wipe the edge of the ear.. i also only clean wax that you can visibly see from my boys... mine on the other hand i have a good dig around lol. I find even after using a cotton bud a curby grip gets loads of wax out.

A q-tip is a cotton bud lol hair clips

I use cotton buds but not often. Ears are supposed to have wax in them!

you shouldnt put anything in yor ears thats smaller than your elbow. eyes , ears, and nose cleam themselves.

I wash inside and out when I'm in the shower and just use shampoo. I was always told not to poke in there, especially not with cotton buds. My ears don't feel sticky or waxy at all and I've never put a cotton bud in them

I got told off by my GP because I had a build up due to using a cotton bud to clean. He said I was pushing wax further down. It was horrible, I basically went deaf in one ear until he cleared it for me!

I never put cotton buds in my ears I hate the feeling of anything in my ears! I just wash them with water in the shower and dry them properly. I've never had any problems so far.. I don't use cotton buds on charlie either and no problems with his. My sister is always poking cotton buds in her ears and has to have them syringed and cleaned quite often!
