My son is 5 weeks old I started bf but gave up as got sore cracked nipples and thrush, possibly as he is very tongue tied and a lot to do with lack of help from midwives hv etc.
I started him on SMA gold but did not agree with him so changed to aptamil he has been on aptamil for 2 weeks and for the last 3-4 days has been very unhappy crying all day unless asleep or fed, only sleeping during the day when in his baby bjorn or on my chest.
I tried colief but it made his poo really watery and he was dirtying his nappies every 5 mins or so so have stopped that, he is on infacol for wind and gaviscon for possible mild reflux (he brings up a little milk every now and again for the 3-4 hours between feeds)
When he is sleeping he grunts and groans and sort of strains bringing his legs up and fidgeting around, he generally does this all night although it doesnt seem to wake him.
The hv i spoke to yesterday suggested it could be a lactose intolerance and asked my dr to prescribe nutamigen but he just wont drink it not even mixing it with aptamil 1 nutramigen to 4 aptamil!
So i have decided to try cow and gate infant milk to see how he goes on that.
Does anyone else have any of these problems?
HELP!!! lol

didnt want to read and run, i have no advice but i hope you get it sorted soon. X

No idea either, i tried 4 different formula's too. We now give him infacol and gripe water at every meal mixed in his formula.

This is exactly the same as my 7 week old son, nearly word for word. My dr wont give me anything lactose free until he is tested for it, so waiting for that to come back. The only time he became really content was for a couple of days when i gave him infasoy, but then he realised that it was powder formula and refused it and my hv doesnt recommend it anyway. Ready made Cow and gate is all he likes, im switching him off of the hungry baby one today to see if it stops the crying as i found out earlier its bad on their digestive system and i have also changed to dr brown bottles. They are expensive but they have helped with the grunting and curling up especially at night. The only other thing i can really say is what some other ladies on here have said to me and that is that babies crying peaks at 6 weeks and then starts to drop at 8 weeks when they can see better and becoming more aware of things. I am really hoping this is the case as its so upsetting seeing him so unhappy all the time. Good luck xxx

This is exactly how my son is, he is 7 weeks on wed. He is on infant galviscon and infacola and gripe water too, he also scrunches up in pain and is only happy when asleep or being rocked in my arms. Iv found masaging his tummy amd doing leg exercises with him after a feed helps break up some of the wind, and a walk in the buggy knocks him out, nothing like fresh air. To be honest I think all we can do is make them comfortable till their little digestive system developes, were the ones who need the tlc and a long break haha. I found no real difference bwtween the doctor brown bottles and the tommy teepe ones as he still cries and has wind.
