ive seen a few people mention beer, particularly guiness, is good for milk supply. anyone got experience of this or any more info? is it worth drinking something i dont like?!

Worth a try! Beer has hoards of calories which is why its good for supply. If you drink lots of fluids and eat well you should do good too.

I think it's just because it contains iron. You'd be better off just eating some spinach, red meat or pulses!

what the heck is a pulse? (foodwise lol)

ahh ok....

Another thought along the lines of guiness being iron rich... Do you guys have prenatal vitamins there? Here we have a pre-natal multivitamin the doctors recommend you take before, during and after pregnancy that is iron and folic acid fortified.

I remember my MW saying something about Guiness being good for supply, but ICK. I am not a beer drinker.

Yeah we do..I buy mine (you can either have the normal pre/preg and beyond sort or ones designed for Bf'ing with added omega oils and that. Though I'm sure the HV can prescribe them too if wanted.

My nan used to swear by stout though (not particularly guiness) I'm not sure if they still do it, but you could get diddy little cans of stout (makeston I think it was called). Mind you in her day pregnant ladies were not just recommended stout, but people were still prescribed ciggies too..lol

Brewers yeast does the same thinng. You can buy it as the pharmacy in pill form.
