Hi ladies! Like many of you I had an increased discharge on and off for the past month or so. ( I am 31 weeks now) Sometime it was suspicious but I had to hope it was just small cases of urine leaking or discharge. However tonight I went to the toilet and on the way back I had a gush of fluid down my legs. It was much more than just a few drops of urine as one may expect after using the bathroom. It run to my knees on both legs. I had no underwear so I could not really catch it. But I wiped it with my hand and it did not smell of anything. Because of the ammount I can kind of think that it might be urine that was still remaining in my blader or amniotic fluid.
Naturally I was quite concerned and called hospital first thing in the morning but they did not want me to come. They suggested I should put a pad and see if I am leaking more. So far I am relatively dry. But what if there is no more water there left? I am really concerned how hospital reacted. It seems that would do anything to keep you from coming. How much amniotic fluid is in there? What is it was leaking slowly and the rest gushed out tonight?

Trust me if it was your waters it would keep gushing out. Mine was like a waterfall coming out of my vag...and i kept having huge gushes randomly...

I had a few times when I leaked fluid, turned out it was my incontinence which has gone now.
I hope you get the answers you need. When your waters break it could fill a pad within an hour and keeps leaking. If you are concerned call your MW.

It sounds to me like you have just peed yourself. Its happened to me quite a few times and seems like its worse if Ive just got on pj bottoms and no pants! If you have a pad on and its not soaked through its unlikely its your waters and the fact that the hospital seem relaxed about it is a good sign. x

Thanks a lot! I hope I am ok. I don't know what would I do without this forum. My hospital is so dismissive.

I never imagined I would be happy to pee myself:). But it better be pee than my waters. I am on my own with my small daughter and it would not be fun to go into labour this early.

lol, I know what you mean. Its like a "thank god, its only pee running down my leg" moment. Midwife told me the other day that if you lie down with a pad on then stand up and it totally soaks it, its likely to be your waters otherwise just good ole pee!

With my son my hind waters went at 34 wks I'd just been for a wee too and had Aberystwyth similar experience to you there was easily enough to to soak apad but it stopped at that and a scan confirmed my hind waters had gone but not the main sac that didn't go until 40 wks

I know what you mean about the Hospitals being dismissive. I know they probably get so many calls about nothing but still we're worried over nothing! Until our babies are in our arms the worry will not go!

I worried about pains the other day, until I farted.. It was embarrassing but I felt so much better. :)

I don't think it was your waters hun. Although my waters didn't gush, I was sat on the toilet with it trickling for a good couple of minutes so think it would have been more than that xx

Its very likely to be just wee but when I was 30 weeks I had a similar thing happen and the midwives just dismissed it but I pushed for a scan and they found that my fluid levels were low and that it most probably was my waters but just a hind water leak which then resealed itself. Water levels build back up again so don't worry too much about it. If it was this and you have no more leaking it will sort itself out. Just keep an eye out :-) xxx

I have this, usually after having a wee, but it is most definitely vaginal discharge rather than wee or waters, I could see it was slightly milky in colour - I'm sure it's just that, or pee!

not necessarily - i went in at 33+5 with period cramps, they swabbed me and found i was leaking fluid (i had no idea) with the whole associated infection risk. they didn't properly go till the following day with the whole pop and woosh thing that you DO notice

Sorry, what is hind waters?

You have 2 sets of waters hun. Hind and fore. From what I can gather, hind ones can leak then replenish themselves. I think if fore ones go its more obvious and once they go they go. How are you now? Has the leaking/peeing stopped? xx

This has been happening to me since about 32 weeks...I go to the loo, get up, leave the bathroom and a minute later I feel liquid trickling out of me!! Mortifiying when it happened in work... I freaked out the first time, convinced I was leaking amniotic fluid, but I quickly realised it was a combination of my bladder not being fully empty and baby moving positions after I stood up!!

yes thats true altho as in my case I lost all my hind waters but my fore watets remaind intact so there wasnt a risk of infection and they didnt replenish in my case but most of the time they do

If you lay down for 30 mins then get up it should have a small/big gush if it's your waters *hugs*

I had the same thing happen to me last week. Right after I had used the bathroom too. Called my dr office and they said if I soaked a rag placed between my legs I should call back. Luckily it just happened a couple of times and then quit. Still going to ask my dr about it in person tomorrow.
