I know this subject has probably been done before but I need some more input!

Booked to have my hair dyed tomorrow with my usual hairdressers, phoned before and asked her if it was safe to do so and she said that it was perfectly safe, the only reason they advise against is that pregnancy can make your scalp more sensitive. She told me to read up online to make myself feel better.

So I did. Big mistake. Now regretting making the appointment but oh, so want my hair not to have greying roots showing!! Have a family wedding at the weekend and already feeling plump enough to fill out normal clothes but not enough to properly fit maternity, could do with the boost of having decent hair and not worry about bad hair day - but I'm worried for LO!

Any advice? Would you go and have your hair done tomorrow?

Id only do it if Id had a sensitivity test first and Im generally not over cautious about anything preggers related but the whole allergy thing with hair colour freaks me out.

I read somewhere that hair dyes during pregnancy can give unreliable colour results, but I don't now from personal experience as I don't colour mine at the moment. Maybe do a strand test aswell as a patch test so your sure it will turn out the right colour. :hugs:

Hey. I had my hair colored at 8 weeks. I used INOA which is ammonia free hair color and oil based so it gives stunning color, and is perfectly safe for pregnancy and doesn't smell either. It came out great and I still go often to do my roots, but only with INOA hair color.

I had my hair highlighted blonde at a salon when I was about 12 weeks, and have since dyed it at home myself (about 4 weeks ago - after doing a skin allergy test first!), and it was fine  xx

Don't worry too much.

I waited until 12 weeks, just because I was paranoid and scared. But I've been dying my hair throughout. I'd advise doing a sensitivity test in case your body reacts differently to it now that you're pregnant.

Just make sure you're in a ventilated room so you don't breathe in too many fumes, not good for the chest. But LO will be fine :)

I asked my dr before doing mine. He said second tri is fine but do a spot test first in case you react to the dye.

Hi - I am paranoid about these sorts of things, so I waited until after the first trimester. I've just found these hair colours, Daniel Field, that are supposed to be safe for pregnancy - haven't tried them yet but am about to!:

I just dyed my hair the other day, no problems here! Of course I asked my OB the day before and she said it is safe definitely in the sec tri and went on to tell me that she got her hair permed in the sec tri when she was pregnant!
