I didn't know if any of you other parents have experienced this, but this morning we woke up and Alex was normal and happy for the first few hours. We started tickling her toes like we often do, and DH noticed a hair wrapped around one of them. We tried to take it off but it just got tighter and started to cut off the circulation to the tip of her toe. Of course, she was wailing and flailing her feet. I had to finally take a pair of tweezers and snip off the hairs in one fell swoop. I was so afraid I would cut her, but somehow I managed to avoid it. The hair came off, but there's still a pretty sharp indentation on her toe. The toe is nice and pink again, although a little swollen. I'm still a little worried there might still be hair wrapped around it, though. But from what I've read, this isn't an emergency unless the toe is turning blue, right? And it may just take time for it to go away?

Can anyone help??

Yes this has happened to me before. I'm always afraid of pulling hairs now. She'll be fine, it just takes a while to go back to normal.

I have read about it happening. That's why newborn babygrows have 'toesafe' written on the packs, it's because the thread in the feet is stitched in a way loose cotton can't cone free and wrap around the toes. If it's so bad you can't get it off then it's a trip to a&e to have it removed.
I hope her toe is back to normal now xxx

This happened to our little one. We had to go to A & E. So scary. It took Over a week for the indentation to go away and the skin around the indentation peeled away.

this happened to one of my twins. it was horrible and had actually slightly cut into the underneath of his toe. i cut away the hair and went to the hospital just incase. turns out there was still another hair cutting in and i couldnt see anything there.
i've never felt so horrible in all my life, then one of the doctors made a snide comment to me about it possibly being intentional and maybe one of my other kids wrapped it around his toe... yea the other 2 month old did it :dohh:
it took a little while for the indentation to disappear and the wound the heal up.

Such a rude thing for the doctor to say. And really odd too.

Thank you ladies for your comments. I'm really glad to know that I'm not the only one who's experienced this. It was really surprisingly scary.
