Hi,
Does anyone have any experience of their little ones hands/arms turning blue when they are cold? My 2 year old has always really felt the cold. When he was a baby he often has cold blueish hands in the winter. On Saturday when he was playing outside in the sand wearing a tshirt and a jumper i noticed his arms had become discoloured. Ive never seen anything like it and managed to to get a picture. It cleared up after around half an hour after i took him inside to warm up and gave him piriton just incase it was allergy related. He wasnt distressed and had no other symptoms.

He is under the allergy clinic for soya and dairy intolerence and he has a follow up next month. He has had a night time cough since November and is often rattly/chesty in the day. Dr asked me to give piriton every night for this. I have booked an appointment for him next week with GP about this episode with his arms and his cough.

Just wanted to know if anyone has any ideas or has seen anything like this before. It almost looked like bruises but completely cleared quite quickly. Ive added some pics

Thanks

That does look odd, I’ve never seen anything like it. I would be inclined to take him to a doctor and show the pics. Hopefully it’s nothing but I think it would be worth checking.

I have something called Raynaud’s Disease, which causes my blood vessels to narrow too much when I am cold or stressed. It generally appears in the hands or toes, but I also get it on areas on the soles of my feet and I know it can appear on other parts of the body as well. At first everything turns white, but when the blood comes back to my fingers and toes they go that exact same shade of purple. Maybe it is the same thing or something similar? For me it’s annoying but not really a problem.

I was going to post the exact same thing !

My DDs hands was exactly the same went blue and purple . Her lips and cheeks also did the same when she was around the same age. She also had a diary allergy actually. We just got told to keep her hands warm when outside . She did get referred to a pead who ruled out Raynauds. It stopped when she was around 3 but still gets cold hands very quickly !
Hope you get some answers !
