40+4 - had a sweep and was 2-3 dilated

40+6 - had another sweep and was 3-4 dilated

40+6 at 9pm contractions started, becoming more regular & stronger untill 5am they were 6 min apart.i didnt sleep & walked the house all night in pain. Rang hospital who said go in....

41
5.30am- contractions stopped. hospital said dont go in wait for contractions to start again.

9am - started getting very irregular contractions...absolutely no pattern whatsoever. i had this terrible pressure feeling in my pelvis, i couldnt stand, sit, lay ...nothing it was agony i was crying all day in pain & so so tired.

by 4pm i rang hospital to tell them my contractions hadnt been regular but that i was needing to come for painkillers as i was in so much pain & feeling agonising pressure. MWwas very patronising & said ''your bount to be in pain your having a baby'' ''pressure is normal'' they didnt want me to come in untill contractions were regular for 2hrs first but i was adamant if labour started again i would have no energy for it so needed tablets to sleep first.

5pm got to hospital, they didnt want to examine my cervix just patronised me again & took my blood pressure & said i could have 2 codine, both MW & doctor saw me.

7pm - discharged me
7.02pm - waters broke on the way out of the labour ward
7.10pm - mw checked me - 8cm dilated. No apology for dismissing me or not taking me seriously. i was in agony now, since my waters broke the pressure feeling went & contractions came on top of one another. Didnt mention pain relief so i had to ask for some after a while, gthey gave me gas and air but i was in too much pain already to breath properly so it didnt work & i gave it back.

8pm was pushing
8.59pm Harry born weighing 9lb 3oz

Was by far the hardest thing ever & more painfull than i ever imagined (pushing not contractions) but i didnt get time to have pain relief in me.

Next time i wont listen to the MW i'll go in early & get all the meds i can!

Oh lol. I didn't notice the dates. I just jump on any new post i see in this forum. It's my favorite section. My daughter was born in March 2010. Expecting DD#2 in 6 weeks. Time just flies doesn't it.

I can't believe how many stories you hear about midwives not taking women seriously. I'm glad your water broke before you left the hospital. A big congrats on your little boy!
