I never wanted LO to have FOB's surname from day dot. Getting caught up in the emotion I agreed when she was here.....I even changed the name I chose her to suit HIM (he was absent by choice from my whole pregnancy). So I feel like a complete t*&t!
My cousin's 18month old boy died tragically on 1st May and they hadn't got around to getting him christened and did it before his post mortem which I just think is so sad.
I am now determined to get LO christened this year but I am changing my surname and will change hers too.
As she doesn't have passport yet I think now is the best time as she will get her passport in her new surname which will make things easier as she goes through life when she has to show ID as she will use the passport as ID and not have to show her BC and Deed Poll (okay she might at some point but day to day stuff like bank accounts etc).
When I get her christened will this be acceptable? i.e. does the church need to see her BC?
Also has changing their name been pretty straightforward? i.e no issues with getting records changed etc
