Have you ever forgotten to buckle the car seat?

surprisingly not yet, but I have done it in a carriage and didn't notice my LO was hanging out with just her head on the seat til everyone(at a family bbq) started pointing and saying look!!:dohh: felt pretty stupid for that.

Yes I did it for the first time this week - remembered after about 2 minutes of driving

Yep! about a 20 min drive, LO was about 2 months. we had just gone to visit family, got him out, he began to get tired so i popped him in and rocked him to sleep with a blanket over him, and when my OH picked him up to put him in the car he didnt check and i assumed he had clicked him in. Felt so guilty

Hun that could of happened to anyone, its funny how when you forget something, something happens though isn't it, like you could go every single day strapping her in and nothing ever happens, the one time you forget something does! Hope you're both ok!!! xxxxxxx

Once, he was 14 months I think. My brother is the one who put him in the carseat, then he went to the driver seat, I was sitting in the back seat, I thought my brother strapped him. When the car started to move, Omar started to call me while holding the strap & trying to put it on :haha:

Yea! It was also the first time in a long time that I was going out alone, usually I get other people to drive in case she needs me to tend to her!

No but when DH buckles them in he makes it so loose they may as well not be strapped in. He always tells me I make it too tight, but I can still fit two fingers under so its perfect. The first time I had him buckle one in we drove all the way to the doctor (about an hour) and got all the way upstairs before I noticed. I was about ready to kill him. When he brought them to pick me up from the hospital he did the same thing (after the doctor incident I just strapped both of them in myself). I keep stessing that they have to be snug or its not safe but he just doesn't listen.

ive thankfully got isofix so dont need to but i have a couple of times forgotten to put that bar bit down.

Once. We have a cover for her seat (for winter, instead of a coat) OH had put LO in and I thought he also buckled her straps, I popped the cover on the seat without noticing and drove to town, in snow, 20 minutes, she was 5 weeks old. I cried when we took her out at OH's brother's house when I realized what we had done and what could have happened. I check and check again when we pop the seat in the car now. It freaked me out. We live among some huge hills, lots of bad accidents out here in the winter. I don't even like to take her out in the snow at all.

I have done this twice :dohh: - once with each of my children.....the latest time was after his vaccinations. I had the car seat in the waiting room ( you know how they make you wait for a little bit after) and was picking him up and putting him down to see if he was going to be happy to leave - I thought he might get upset and I would have to get him up again but he seemed to settle and I just totally forgot to buckle it up:nope:.....It was only when I got home and got him out I realised to my horror what I had done :dohh:

I've never forgotten to strap the kids into their seats, but I forgot to strap Sophie's infant carrier into the car seat belt once.

I've forgotten too. I strapped DD into her infant car seat but forgot to strap the car seat in. She was probably a couple of months old. I felt awful when I went to get her out of the car and realised. It was a 30 min journey with part of the way being on a 70mph road *shudder*. I've never forgotten since thank goodness. We all make mistakes.

I've done it. They were about 6 months old. We'd been out having a picnic and I put them in the car seat for a nap and covered them with a blanket each. They were still asleep when we left so just lifted the seat and fixed to the isofix base. Felt awful when I got home and realised they they didn't have their straps on. I blame it on sleep deprivation!

Another time when about a year I lifted one in the car quickly, and ran to grab the other as was worried about being left in a pushchair in a busy car park. Whilst strapping the second in, the other flipped out of the car seat and fell in the footwell. All was ok but I felt awful... The perils of twins :)

I did this Yesterday :(
On my way back from grandparents with LO and was pretty tired. Had to pull over a short way into journey to pick her up, feed and tru to settle her for a nap for the journey. Noticed the seatbelt wasn't wrapped properly so made sure it was secure when I put her back in, BUT forgot to click her own straps AT ALL! Did the whole of the rest of the journey, 45 mins, motorway and didn't know until I got home. I went cold all over and just stood and hugged her. She'd slumped a bit (3.5 months) and looked so uncomfortable.

I have!! And LO was only 2 weeks old. It was the first time using the isofix and I spent so long making sure the chair was connected to the base that I forgot to check if baby was connected to the chair!! We only drove about 3 miles but I felt terrible when I realized. Glad I'm not the only one.

Can't remember how old Alice was, maybe 6 weeks... It was a 10 minute trip, and when my husband went to get her out the straps were round her but I hadn't plugged them in....my heart sank, I cried and felt like the worst mother in the world....now I pull on the straps and buckle every time to make sure....I'd say this is something that happens to most mums

aat 9 days pp we went out for OHs birthday - opened up the door and asked our 2 year old to climb across and jump in his seat. well before A was born we didnt need him to do this as the minute he was in his seat he would get strapped in. this time i thought oh il walk round and strap him in once i strapped baby in. well i totally forgot (still adjusting to having to see to 2 littleys lol) We drive off and DS1 starts shouting 'mummy im not strapped in' bless him luckily we only got half way down our street before pulling over to strap him in

Yes, twice. Same exact thing happened both times. :dohh:

Once yes. I had used the carseat on the pram frame at Tesco. I popped the carseat off, put it back in the car then took the trolley back. Came back and had disregarded the belting him in part. Luckily the journey is 2 minutes. Will never do again!

Yes I forgot to strap ds carseat into car we had just been to doctors and j got told he needed to be admitted for observations as doctor didnt know what was wrong with him I was a panicking mess and drove home 3mins away and realised felt awful

Yes. I though OH had strapped him, he though I had needless to say neither of us had and although the seat was belted in he wasn't fastened into him seat :(

Very scary.
