Having a shocker with stims - HELP!

Hi girls

So I am on day 2 of stims and I am having an absolute shocker trying to juggle all the little bottles!! I am on 4 powders to one liquid and the whole process of getting all the liquid out, getting no air in it, putting it in the next bottle etcetcetc is proving VERY taxing!! It literally reduced me to tears this morning and I ended up with only 0.75ml insted of 1!!

I'm worried that I won't stim properly cos I'm not getting enough in. Does anyone have any advice on technique??

Didnt want to read and run hun - but i was on gonal f which handlily comes in pre filled pens so I cant help you - but I am sure there are loads of other menopur girls on here.

Cant believe what a nightmare it sounds - but am sure that they allow for wastage - otherwise they would get nursers to do it - so I am sure a little bit of wastage is just fine. And because you get loads of scans / blood tests etc. if it wasnt working they would catch it early enough and up your dose anyway and you will catch up.

But maybe good to ring the hospital just to have a chat with them anyway to put your mind at rest - i know I can drop into my clinic and they will do the injections for me if I had found it difficult so I am sure yours would help you.

Oh hun - you poor thing - you dont need this on top of everything

I just saw this sorry i dont look at the threads so if you want to ask anything like this again, drop me a PM

My hubby did mine i watched him to the point that he started injecting me. Its hard to explain hun on here but i will tell you what we did.

Basically dont worry about the air too much at first when doing the first few bottles until the last one. Try not to get air in but it doesnt matter too much, your not injecting into a vein but it will make injecting a bit sore, so get as much out as you can.

Draw all the liquid from the water bottle holding the bottle on a slant so the last dregs are in the corner. Then work your way through each menoupr vile, peircing the lid gently and letting the pressure in the bottle suck the liquid into the bottle where it mixes with the menopur, you dont have to push the syringe the pressure should take the liquid.

Gently draw the liquid solution back out - now i can see this being the hard bit for us women cos we have smaller hands but my hubby could do it with one hand, just do it best you can again dont worry too much about air.

Now at last bottle (or if at any point you get too much air in and you cant get liquid into menopur viles easy) the best thing to do is hold it needle pointed upwards and actually draw a bit more air into the syringe, draw air in until you can see that the water line is flat and there is clear air in the syringe between the soluton and the top of the needle, then begin gently pushing the needle until a tiny bit comes out of the end.

Does that make any sense? Its kinda counter intuative, your not ment to get air in BUT if you do its best to get a bit more in to easily push it all out rather than just a tiny bit of bubble that is a nightmare to release. If you get a lot of air in just doing that silly tapping on the needle wont work. Its much eaiser doing it this way.

Also , try either slapping your skin, or using ice on patch your gonna inject, makes a big difference!!!!

I had a bit of a practice this afternoon with the spare saline bottles and empty powder vials!! I reckon if I keep the needle point right to the bottom of the vial I get less air in. It's just so hard cos the syringe is only 1ml and I need 1ml of liquid so there is NO room to spare!!

Oh Mrs G. I just saw your post after I posted mine. I totally understand the tears. I broke down in tears last night and I'm only on 2 powders. Thanks for posting yours. Now I don't feel so silly. Also, totally agree with Chocci, my DH is much better at preparing the syringes than me and it probably is because he has bigger hands.
