Is there anything I can take? I'm really struggling with hayfever at the moment and feeling pretty desperate to get rid of or atleast ease the effects of hayfever.

I use anti histamine eye drops and beconase nasal spray. Use them first thing in the morning before you go out or open any windows and works well for me. I have no idea about anti histamine tablets when breast feeding as they don't work at all for me except for piriton which knocks me out!! Not much use with an 8 month old!

Hummm, I looked it up and got my GP to double check:
There aren't any (that my practice is willing to prescribe) that don't have a warning against BFing, there might be some dowdy ones, but I'm not interested in those so didn't look.

The best I've got is a nasal spry- which I meant to collect today (funnily enough, got distracted by the 3 kids whilst in town and forgot to pick up the prescription.... Snorting and dripping now!!)

I don't have eye symptoms, so don't know about eye drops.

I was told I can take loratadine while donating milk so I take that otherwise I wouldn't be able to see or breathe!

I was prescribed some piriton and some eye drops-seem to be working thankfully :)

In my birth to five book it says you can take loratadine (non drowsy) one of the girls at my local nurture group said her GP said that they always say on packets of tablets not to take when BFing so they don't get sued, but he told her they were fine to take. I've been taking them and had no issues :)

They say don't take them as can reduce your milk supply I thought? X

My LO's pediatrician said most OTC antihistamines are fine. I take fexofenadine (Allegra) every day during allergy season and it's never had any effect on LO or my supply. Neither has diphenhydramine (Benadryl), which I take occasionally.

Never had a problem with supply but then I don't need them everyday.

It's probably best to see your doc if you're really struggling. They may suggest nasal sprays (which have never worked for me) but if its bad they might give you tablets...some meds that say don't take when BFing also say unless its been approved by your doc.

Hope you get some relief soon! It's the worst thing when its also really hot!
