I guess I'll give you a run down of my TTC life. Its been almost 3 years, with one miscarriage and 3 chemical pregnancies. Finally, I have conceived again (5weeks tomorrow)... after my 2nd IUI. I have been spotting off and on since Sunday (when I had my 2nd hcg test showing I doubled from 2 days prior). I am currently taking progesterone vaginally 3 times a day. My question is: Is there anyone else who has began to spot so early... and that it turned out to be nothing? Could this just be to aggravation by the progesterone I'm inserting three times a day? I'm so worried that I am about to have another miscarriage.

I had some spotting at 5+1 it lasted for a few days. It's stopped and everything is fine now fingers crossed!

Thanks guys! No one ever tells you the "horrors" of trying to have a baby.

My last 2 pregnancies I have had spotting. My last one did end in a MC but it was a 2nd trimester loss, and had absolutely nothing to do with early bleeding. I just have a very friable cervix, and if you look at it cross eyed, it starts bleeding. And you are right they never tell you all the scary things of pregnancy, and that bleeding is common, and normal a lot of the time. GL and hugs!!!

I just heard back from my nurse. She thinks all is fine, but scheduled me for an ultrasound tomorrow... that will put me at 5w1d. I'm so nervous to see whats up.

I am in the same spot. I have been spotting off and on since the day after my BFP. It's been very pale brown or very very pale pink and only when I wipe. I've had my HCG checked 3 times:

4w0d - 177
4w4d - 1,285
5w3d - 19,625

So my numbers are more than doubling every two days, but still every few days I have a bit of spotting. I am scheduled for an ultrasound next week to check it out. My OB said that when there is spotting in pregnancy it is more likely to be "nothing" than it is to be a sign of a miscarriage. But it's hard to relax after MC.

I notice you had a D&C after your MC, I had 2 myself. I actually read on another site that a lot of women have spotting in a pregnancy after D&C. I don't know if it's just coincidence, but there were an awful lot of women saying it happened to them.

I hope all goes well with your ultrasound, keep us updated.

My ultrasound went really well. The gestational sac measured 4w5d which is super close to where I am... 5w0d. The doctor was very happy with that, and is not concerned about my spotting. She did give me a Rhogam shot since I'm RH negative, and spotting, just as a precaution. So, everything looks good. I'm going back October 3rd for a second ultrasound, and should be able to see fetus and heartbeat. I'm still super nervous, but a little less now that I've seen there is nothing wrong on the inside. :D

ceejie - I'm so sorry to hear of your losses. My Reproductive Specialist saw me today and is not worried about the spotting. You are so sensitive that anything can cause it. I'm mainly worried because of my miscarriage back in April... they seemed unconcerned about my spotting and I ended up losing the baby. Hopefully my doctors are right this time and that it is nothing. I have a friend who spotted her entire 1st trimester, who was on progesterone. Once her 2nd trimester hit and she was no longer on progesterone, her spotting stopped. I'm hoping mine stops a lot sooner! (and yours too!)

I have never heard that, about spotting after d&c. Maybe I will do some research.

I hope the best for you! Good luck!

Thanks. My OB told me not to be too concerned, she said it could just be implantation bleeding slowly making it's way out bit by bit....but it is really hard not to worry after mc. Funny thing is, with the mc I didn't spot at all, it wasn't until my scan at 10 weeks that I found out.

I have a scan on Tuesday, so I guess I will know then.

I hadn't heard about spotting in a pregnancy after d&c until I stumbled across a site the other night. I can't remember what site it was. I think it kind of makes sense, as your cervix could still be irritated. I hope it stops soon for the both of us!

Good luck :hugs:

I've been having some brown discharge but after an US we think that it's caused by a small subchronic hematoma around Baby B's sac

from what the doctor in the early pregnancy clinic told me spotting happens a lot more than we think (I had none with my first so this has been a bit of a shocker for me!)

I have been spotting and having cramps to go with it for a week now. Today I am at 5weeks + 5 days. I went back to the early pregnancy emergency centre but was told to go home because they couldn't do anything for me. The doctor said at 5 weeks, they won't be able to see anything on ultrasound! So I have US booked next Wednesday.

Also I was told not to bother to go back to them even though I continue having cramps + spotting. His words -- if you are to miscarry, its better to be early than late and let nature takes its course.

My heart sank and I went home.
