Hi Everyone,
After lurking on this board and many others desperately seeking hope for the last few weeks, I promised myself that if I had a positive story I would share it. So, I signed up and want to share my story that may give others in my position hope. So, I recently got pregnant after our 3rd and final IUI. I was thrilled. The happiness was short-lived however. My HCG leves had initally started off great 13 DPO at 127. Then they only rose to 192 48 hours later and 24 hours after that they were at 198. My Dr. told us to take the methotraxate shot and help things end. Of course I wanted to be 150% sure before we did that. I went back three days later and my HCG was 461. The Dr. said she still thought I should take the shot but we could do another blood draw in 3 days. Well, my levels had doubled in 48 hours up to 1127. I was cautiously excited until my Dr. told me that it is likely ectopic and that I needed to have an ultrasound the next day. As I had researched and read every possible forum on the topic, I asked her about the possibility of a vanishing twin because I had two large follicles prior to the IUI. She basically blew me off saying there really is not much chance of that. Well...at my first ultrasound to find that ectopic pregnancy, my Dr. was shocked to see that there was a gestational sac and a yolk sac in the right spot. And a week later, there was a heartbea with a fetus measuring right on trackt! She has not idea what happened but right now everything is perfect. I know that through those terrible weeks of waiting and bad news, a few posts really helped keep my hope alive. I just want to pay that back. I hope this helps someone!

Great news, thanks for sharing your story, it's nice hearing positive stories when things have been painful or not as expected. Wishing you a happy and Healthy pregnancy

Xx

what excellent news welcome xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

What an awesome story! This just goes to show that sometimes you have to wait things out and let them happen naturally...imagine if you had listened to the doctor initially and not given it time. So thrilled for you! Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy :hugs:

my hcg also wasnt doubling, rising thou, and i indeed had vanishing twin syndrome! congratulations!

I am so glad i found this post!! I am also going trough this hcg weirdness. Mine doubled nicely at first.
10 dpo: 25
14 dpo: 141
18 dpo: 533
So I was above average for that time but...
But by the 5th week, they rose from 533 to 613 in 4 days...which I was sure was gonna be another MC for me. 2 days later they were 538, so I was told to go home and miscarry, and to come back in a week to see if my levels were going down, to rule out ectopic. Well a week went by, and no bleeding (I was exactly 6 weeks LMP). They did a blood test, results were 744, and an U/S. We saw a sac in the UTERUS, a fetal pole, and a heartbeat!!! :) Docs were amazed and really excited, but obviously we're all still cautious about MC with that kind of low level. But the baby was right on track, mesuring 5 weeks 6 days (instead in 6 weeks), which I am really excited about. It's like the baby never stopped developping even all this hcg stalling, going down and up but still not doubling. I really hope I get to hold this baby in my arms on november 22nd:happydance:

Shame on that Dr for trying to make you give up so early! Makes my blood boil.
Im so happy all turned out well. Congrats!

i love wonderful stories like this!
congratulations & thanks for sharing.

I just wanted to say congrats and so happy to hear you had a positive outcome. Also your doctor sounds awful.. I can't believe she would tell you to take the shot before she knew for sure what was going on... what if you had? I can't imagine how many people had healthy pregnancies and followed that doctors advice and never knew! Sad. Anyways congrats again :)

What wonderful stories. Will give hope to many ladies on here!
